I reckon for about the last 18 years now, this man right here has been in my top 5 listened to artists at all-times.
For me, Barrington Levy is the absolute ๐ and I think he will most probably always be my favourite Reggae vocalist.
On Monday night this I got my first chance to see him live, at the Exchange (of all places ๐ฅ).
It's a rare feeling sharing a room with a human of whose creations you have such a deep, historic connection to.
In so many ways his music has and will continue to be a relevant part of my life. It impacts me on a weekly basis. He's low-key been a therapist at times, or in others days he's made me deeply appreciate the love I share with my partner. Some times he helps me cry. And in other times he's been the soundtrack to a late night in my living room, me dancing in the dark solo with my headphones on... All the whilst, he has no knowledge of my existence ๐ ...It's a weird concept, feeling so connected to someone who you've never met.
On Monday night he absolutely smashed it ๐ฏ
Played so many obscure tunes I'd never expect him to play. It almost felt like I picked his set list or something.
After the set, completely accidentally and by pure chance, I was the only person out of a group of about 20 who got a chance to talk to him personally as he made his way into the green room.
It wasn't a hassley, blaggy interaction, with me forcing a selfie, it was just a genuine connection and convo. I asked him about a record that only recently dropped that was shelfed in 82 by the label (his eyes kinda shot up, both out of respect for my knowledge, but also some level of nerd alert ๐)
He thanked me for the chat, extended his hand and we both said blessings and went our own ways.
It was an unreal moment. And one that whilst it was happening, I had a really surreal understanding - if I ever have kids, this is a moment I'm going to tell them about... This is a core memory being created, that will follow me now for the rest of my days.

Friday night with the @greyhoonsound x @wobgoblinaudio gang at Greenworks was wicked! ๐ฏ
It can be a bit of a tricky club to get heads though the door sometimes, with its location being a bit out of town, but those guys had it packed out, the decor was on point and it was big vibes all round!
(Sidenote - @e.coli_music remains the ultimate cheat code for rave music, always dope to catch him shelling it down! ๐ฏ)
Then @cosiesbristol last night with the homie @ezra__uk was great fun! It's so important that small venues like Cosies keep getting support from locals, given how venues are dropping like flies these days, so was lush to see a room full of heads still giving it big until the night finished ๐
The next Iller Instinct Invites is coming up in April and I'm flying down one of my favourite producers to come bless the city for that one ๐ด๓ ง๓ ข๓ ณ๓ ฃ๓ ด๓ ฟ
