The new Waraloo Dragonfly Show drops tonight for the first time at Glastonbury 2025. Can't tell you how excited I am about this one - writing the soundtrack for this has been a labour of love that started over a year ago and its been a wild ride. Awesome to be working with the Wudjuk Noongar again and an honour to get to write music and sound design for such an insane show.
This time around the visual tech has gone to a whole new level since 2024 so hold tight!

Part breakdown of the Warallo Soundtrack for the mindblowing @arcadia Dragonfly at Glastonbury. First big challenge was transitioning from the ancient abouriginal song - in 6/8 time and in the key of C#, and develop into Fatboy Slim's anthemic Right Here Right Now in 4/4 and Key of A minor. Totally different keys and rhythms
If you play C# minor and A# minor, it sounds like a horror chord. So there's no way to mix the two songs without using some harmonic tricks 🤔
I found a way to modulate the keys in 4 steps, so the key changes worked nicely over 8 bars, using the circle of 5ths moving backwards in 4ths and some film score concepts 🎶
This project had some real challenges to overcome in the music and sound design, I'll be sharing the rest soon 👀

iLL AUDiO x Arcadia Spectacular x Wudjuk Noongar - The Yallor Keeninyara, an ancient Aborigine song passed down through the ages, recorded for the first time in history, to then have music built around it by yours truly, for Arcadias debut festival in Perth. This was how it went down. Honoured to have been asked to do this. Much respect to all involved. This song will be getting a release in 2020 as a charity fundraiser for the Aboriginal cause. Hold right :)
