Of course, the greatest comfort comes from armchairs around the dining table — offering better relaxation and a more pleasant seating position. In the 1985 catalogue, it can be read that SEMI is a lamp that was previously sold in exclusive shops at a high price. Now, however, it will be found at IKEA for a much lower price. After all, rents are higher in the city-centre, staffing levels greater and there are usually additional intermediaries — all of which presumably drive up the final cost.
Launched in 1991, PROLOG by designer Tord Björklund came both as a floor lamp and a table lamp. With a bold bentwood arc, clean metal stem and adjustable shade, it points the light exactly where you need it.

In 1958, IKEA opened a new large showroom in the small town of Älmhult. Visitors travelled from far and wide and many needed to stay overnight. When IKEA repeatedly had to recommend hotels and rooms Ingvar Kamprad spotted a business opportunity.
