As December comes to an end, we're looking ahead to 2026...
Next year, we have several exciting projects and activities planned, including:
✨Opening 30-minute exploratory sessions for artists wishing to bring their work into XR, MR, AI or hybrid digital performance.
✨Hamlet year 2 where IJAD and Hamlet Partners are going to make their AI platform available for workshops in physical and digital space.
✨Running a series of Connective Matrix roundtable discussions around IP and AI, XR, MR, how to onboard AI, meet the makers and much more. These sessions provide space for early ideas, questions and co-creative conversations with experts.
✨Looking to remap our OOT Arts/Tech residency for a new cohort of artists.
See you in the new year!

This year has been a tapestry of experimentation, collaboration and ethical innovation. As we step into 2026, IJAD remains committed to shaping a future that is live hybrid, relational and, above all, human.
What this year taught us
✨IJAD is developing in live hybrid dramaturgy and sensography, polygonos structuring the dramaturgy.
✨Researching and identifying how to question and approach the IP within the arts–tech sector.
✨The live hybrid festival model is ready for wider integration and roll out.
✨Co-creation is becoming both our methodology and our identity.
✨Sensography in between dramaturgy offers pathways for training, publication and international development.
What did you learn this year?
Support the next generation of artists 🙏
Please consider donating to IJAD's programmes this Christmas, with Gift Aid now available. The generosity of our funders and supporters means we can continue to create exciting opportunities for artists and make performance accessible to all. As we come towards the end of another year, we want to say a huge thank you to all our supporters, our funders, partners, artists and audiences. Thank you for being a part of our journey in 2025!
Here are a few of our 2025 highlights...
✨Phygital/ Fygital Practice & The Tempest
A three-day R&D for The Tempest grew into a major exploration of phygital space, motion capture and virtual production. Working with Ben Turnbull, UAL and London College of Fashion, we refined sensography as a way of keeping the performer’s liveness central, even as their work moves across multiple realities.
✨OOT Arts/Tech Residency
Thirteen artists joined our hybrid Arts/Tech Residency, supported by partners in the arts, education and technology sectors. Together, the artists explored XR, MR, AI, Unreal Engine, motion capture and volumetric tools, deepening relationships with @vipstudiouon , @lcflondon_ and others, including @milkitstudio and @move_ai_
✨OOTFest25 (UN)SEEN
Live-streamed via Open Online Theatre, the festival demonstrated how hybrid formats extend access and creativity. Panels and workshops highlighted the ethical and artistic challenges shaping the sector.
✨Ethics, care & Intellectual Property, focus on the human element
Across the year, we strengthened IJAD’s commitment to artists’ rights, with enhanced IP protocols, transparent attribution and ethical frameworks for AI-assisted creativity. Care remains the foundation of our innovation.
✨AI & The Hamlet Consortium
HAMLET (Human-centred generative AI framework for cultural industry's digital transition) is a Horizon Europe Innovation Action that addresses the digital transformation challenges faced by Europe's Cultural and Creative Industries (CCIs). The project aims to democratise generative AI technologies while ensuring that human creativity, artistic integrity, and cultural diversity remain at the centre of technological innovation.

If you're interested in joining one of our discussions, we'd love to hear from you - and we'd love your recommendations if you know someone who fits the bill!
To register your interest, email [email protected] with a bit about who you are, what you do and the topics you'd like to talk about.

Terms and Conditions reflects on the aesthetics of surveillance, the abstraction of the self, and the emotional residue of digital life. It asks: In a world of constant connectivity, what part of us remains off-screen?
Drawing from choreography, expanded cinema, and performance art, the piece examines how identity is constructed and distorted through systems of surveillance and data capture.
If you missed it at #OOTFest25, you can now watch the piece via our on demand service @openonlinetheatre , link in bio 🔗
