I had the pleasure of lensing FOTO DI GRUPPO for @tommyfrangini This time we did it on his home turf. We shot in Alagna Valsesia, a quiet mountain town at the foot of Monte Rosa which divides Italy and Switzerland. We had three weeks from the time I arrived in Milan (of which one week I spent adjusting to the time difference)to prep and shoot this film. Including an overnight tech scout, costume fittings, rehearsals and strategy meetings. The good folks at @rossofilm @eclettica_____ had a crew ready for me and everyone they found was superb. @davide_signorelli_ @riccardo_copreni , @federicofasulo I tip my hat to you and thank you for all of the hard work and good vibes that where seemingly on tap, I could not have asked for a better “boots on the ground” production than this. @tommyfrangini , my collaborator, my friend, thank you for trusting me with your delicate and beautiful story. Here's a long overdue S. Dakota recap. I spent this last September out there camera operating on a very special project. I had the pleasure of working for and with Dir:@katebeecroft and DP: @h20bear . I thank my lucky stars that Austin brought me on to be his B Cam operator, I can't think of a cooler show to have as my first feature Cam Op job and it will be a long time before I work on something this cool again. There are so many amazing people to talk about from this show and maybe someday I will do a gnarly early aughts style blog post but for now let me just say that I would have been lost if it was not for B Cam 1st Bianca Brennan and B Cam 2nd @emilylazlo and last but not least A Cam 1st the legendary Teddy Dickerson @ipullfocus , who on more than one occasion had invaluable wisdom. Ok gushy rant over, lets get back to work.
