Today we're launching our “LGBTQI Youth Mental Health in the Spotlight” as part of #EuropeanMentalHealthWeek 📘
As the first large-scale study of its kind in the European region, the report explores the status quo of LGBTQI youth mental health and puts forward concrete recommendations to shape legislation, improve healthcare systems, and guide schools on how to better support LGBTQI young people’s mental health.
The results are alarming: we’re observing high levels of anxiety and depression among LGBTQI young people, in particular for trans and intersex youth, youth in rural areas, and young people experiencing intersecting forms of marginalisation — including racialisation, migration, legal status, religion, socio-economic disadvantage, and housing insecurity.
Those levels are driven by critical factors like family rejection, discourse on social media, presence or absence of legislation, or bans on LGBTQI-content in schools.
These issues are not just statistics: they are lived realities. It is urgent to center LGBTQI young people’s voices and improve their access to support and healthcare.

Calling all IGLYO Members: It’s time for another family reunion! 📅🔥
For this year’s IGLYO Annual Members’ Conference (AMC) we’re happy to announce we’ll be going to… Maastricht, The Netherlands, on 5-9 November 2026 together with our amazing local Member @coclimburg !
The core and most important aim of the AMC is to hold the Members’ General Assembly, where Members are updated on and discuss IGLYO’s current structure and activities, cast their votes on statutory issues, and elect new Board Members.
In addition, the AMC will also offer opportunities to engage in insightful panels, attend workshops, discover the local queer activism scene in Maastricht through a social programme curated by COC Limburg, and network with over 80 LGBTQI young activists from across Europe.
Official registration will open in the coming weeks, but for now you can already express your interest through our save-the-date form at link in bio to make sure you don’t miss your chance to register once official registration opens.
And if you’re not yet a Member but would like to join us, apply for our membership 💜

The 2026 @tgeuorg Trans Rights Index & Map is now live! 🗺️
Since 2013, this report has illustrated the legal reality for trans people across Europe and Central Asia. This year’s data reveals a critical trend: legal progress is being driven primarily by activists and courts, not governments.
While some legal developments have taken place, many trans people continue to face growing political hostility, barriers to rights, and democratic backsliding.
It is urgent to take concrete actions. Trans rights are not negotiable — they are part of protecting democracy and human dignity.

Launched last week, our latest report: “LGBTQI Youth Mental Health in the Spotlight ” reveals alarming levels of anxiety and depression among LGBTQI young people in the European region ‼️
With more than one in three LGBTQI young people experiencing depression and anxiety, and even higher instances for those experiencing intersecting forms of marginalisation, these figures highlight the urgent need to center LGBTQI youth voices in shaping mental health strategies at the EU-level.
This is a must-read for anyone working on youth rights and mental health 💜

The UK Government’s “Keeping Children Safe” 2026 Draft Guidance poses a danger to trans and non-binary students! 🚨
While presented as safeguarding guidance, the draft raises serious concerns regarding privacy, dignity, non-discrimination, and equal access to safe and inclusive education, especially for trans and non-binary students in England.
If implemented as proposed for the 2026-2027 school year, it risks harming LGBTQI youth in schools and colleges 🏳️⚧️
With @tgeuorg , we demand, at a minimum, that the guidance:
📝 Clearly align with the Equality Act 2010 and prevent discriminatory practices in schools and colleges.
🔐 Safeguard students’ confidentiality and comply with data protection law.
⚠️ Avoid framing gender identity as a safeguarding risk in itself.
🫂 Provide rights-based guidance that supports safe and inclusive schools for all learners.

Our Board Member Spyros’ mandate ended this year in February — and we miss him dearly already! 🥺
Spyros was elected to the Board in 2022 and took on the roles of Secretary and Treasurer in the course of his mandate, maintaining structure and cohesion among the Board and ensuring our finances remained compliant as well as aligned with our Members’ needs.
Throughout his years at IGLYO, Spyros’ dedication, sharp mind, and sense of community greatly contributed to shaping the new internal processes and structures that were brought about since he joined.
Thank you Spyros for your time, energy and dedication these past few years. We feel grateful to have worked together on strengthening the international LGBTQI youth movement together, and will miss your presence as much as your sense of humour and your wit!
All the best for your next queer adventures! 💜

Democracy, media freedom, and cultural expression are the foundations of a resilient Europe. 🇪🇺
We are proud to stand with over 500 organisations in a joint letter to EU leaders calling for a significant increase in funding for the upcoming AgoraEU programme (2028–2034).
This isn’t just about budget; it’s about protecting our democratic infrastructure against growing threats.
We urge the European Council, Commission, and Parliament to support this vital investment in culture, independent media, and civil society.
