For many LGBTQ+ travelers, safety is not something taken for granted. Itâs constantly evaluated, sometimes consciously, sometimes not.
Masking our identity often becomes a form of self-protection. Decisions about where to go, how to act, or how visibly queer to appear are shaped by the environment.
And discrimination is not always overt.
Itâs in the small interactions, assumptions, and the subtle shifts in attitude that may seem insignificant to some people, but not to the person experiencing them.
Thatâs part of why LGBTQ+ inclusive hospitality matters. In tourism, people rarely remember every detail, but they do remember how a place made them feel. Inclusive hospitality doesnât happen accidentally.

@Spain has reached the top spot on @ILGAEurope âs 2026 Rainbow Map! đ
The ranking evaluates 49 European countries based on their legal and policy practices impacting LGBTQIA+ people, with data verified by hundreds of activists, legal professionals and policy experts across the region.
According to ILGA-Europe, Spainâs rise to #1 reflects recent progress including new equality action plans for LGBTQIA+ rights, the creation of an independent authority for equal treatment, and the continued implementation of trans healthcare reforms.
And yes, this also happens to be the country hosting the IGLTA Global Convention 2026! đ We couldnât be prouder to be heading to Spain and to Seville this November.

To celebrate what would have been Marilyn Monroeâs 100th birthday, the city is hosting a weekend of drag brunches, themed cocktails, film screenings, pool parties, live performances, and a giant world record attempt for the largest gathering of Marilyn look-alikes ever đ
Yes, the goal is literally 500+ white dresses and blonde curls surrounding the Forever Marilyn statue in downtown Palm Springs. đЎ
Beyond the camp and glamour, Marilyn 100 is a fundraiser for Palm Springs Pride, celebrating a legacy tied to authenticity, visibility, and standing with marginalized communities long before it was common to do so.

Here is something I have known for a long time and finally got to say out loud on a panel stage in Guadalajara, Mexico:
Lesbians are the most loyal consumers on the planet and brands have absolutely no idea what to do with that.
Subaru ran one ad in 1992. One ad, over thirty years ago, that quietly acknowledged we existed. Lesbians are still buying Subarus. The L Word aired its finale in 2009 and I guarantee you someone in your life brought it up this week.
I watched The L Word when it first aired. I was in college and there was one friend in our dorm who had the Showtime package. Every Sunday, ten or fifteen of us would pack into her room, on the bed, on the floor, sitting on the windowsill, just to watch it together. Because it was one of the only things on television that was actually made for us. That felt like it knew we existed.
Thatâs not brand loyalty born out of preference. Thatâs loyalty born out of scarcity.
Iâve spent 15 years in LGBT media and I serve as Chairman of the IGLTA Board of Directors. I have had this conversation in a lot of rooms. The travel industry, and honestly most industries, are sitting on an untapped well of consumer devotion from queer women, and the barrier to entry is simply: show up like you mean it.
We donât forget the ones who do.

Letâs meet in @Spain this Pride season? đłď¸ââ§ď¸đłď¸âđ
From the Canary Islands to the Mediterranean coast, all the way to Madrid, Pride season in Spain moves through very different places, but with the same energy running through all of them.
Some are about beach days and late nights, others take over entire cities with concerts, culture, activism, and huge crowds. Different settings, different rhythms, but all part of the same moment.
If youâre already thinking about Pride this year, Spain gives you plenty of ways to experience it.
Are you heading to one of these, or somewhere else in Spain for Pride? đ

And yes, València helps âď¸
See you in June?
