Aghaeli is an Igbo word from the eastern part of Nigeria that translates to “Not victims of war” but it definitely is deeper than that…
In this piece “war” can be seen as our day to day struggle as people and how we won’t be engulfed by or succumb to the hardship we face…
“Ozoemena” is a common surname amongst the Igbo tribe but also a powerful statement that translates to “Another shouldn’t happen” or “Another tragedy shall not befall us”.
So when we say “Yeah we at war, mana mu na umu aloba si Ozoemena… Men bu Aghaeli” it’s more of proclamations and a prayer….
I hope this piece of work resonates with you on your personal level as we say “ Yeah we at war but me and my guys say no to another tragedy… We can’t be lost to war”
