official poster for 𝗕𝗔𝗜́𝗔 𝗗𝗢𝗦 𝗧𝗜𝗚𝗥𝗘𝗦 (TIGER’S BAY), directed by @carlosmconceicao and starring @joaoarrais ✨ the film has its world premiere today at @doclisboa.iff and another screening next tuesday; Carlos will be present at both for a Q&A. the history and myth of a ghost island off the SW African coast are told through a dystopian parable, in which a character undergoes brainwashing to escape the burden of memory in a world he no longer relates to. swipe to see another concept for the poster. thank you Carlos for trusting me with this. the first of many more🤞🏻

official film poster for the Portuguese short-film 𝗧𝗔𝗣𝗘𝗧𝗘 𝗩𝗢𝗔𝗗𝗢𝗥 (FLYING CARPET). the story follows Ricardo ( @ivoarroja ), a teenager searching for a way out of a ruthless reality that traps him and everyone around him, preventing them from reaching for the stars, at the end of the 1990s in Portugal. starting with more ‘conventional’ layouts we gradually evolved to music cassette covers as the main inspiration, since the film title is also the title of a Portuguese song played by Ricardo’s mother in their family apartment. this was a bit out of my comfort zone, since we were searching for a retro, kinda kitsch-y vibe for the poster — so there were a lot of versions and iterations, but in the end we arrived at something that we all felt was fitting for the film and didn’t give away too much about its dark undertones. thank you @justinamorim and @promenadefilms for trusting me with this ✨ and thank you to @poplar.pt for providing a much needed inspiration 📼

official poster for the newly-restored 4K copy of 𝗔𝗡𝗜𝗞𝗜-𝗕𝗢́𝗕𝗢́ (1942), the first feature film by legendary Portuguese director Manoel de Oliveira (1908 — 2015), who was, at the time of his death, the oldest director in activity in the world. the film is told from the perspective of a group of children that live in the banks of the Douro river, in the city of Porto, as their friendships and quarrels intersect the lives of the adults around them (the families, the school teacher, the shop owner) and the daily life of the streets and alleys where they play. following screenings at Venice, Toronto and San Sebastian the film will soon return to Portuguese Cinemas, almost 84 years after it was shot, distributed by @nitrato_filmes 🖤

poster, teaser poster and visual identity for the film 𝗢 𝗠𝗘𝗟𝗛𝗢𝗥 𝗗𝗢𝗦 𝗠𝗨𝗡𝗗𝗢𝗦 (THE BEST OF ALL WORLDS) directed by Rita Nunes, which premiered in Portuguese cinemas last October. the premise of the film was the imminent threat of a big earthquake in Lisbon — similar the one in 1755, which devastated a huge part of the city — and how a group of scientists discusses what to do, the pros and cons of acting out on this possibility and the chaos that would ensue once the general population was alerted. thank you @terratreme.filmes and Rita for trusting me with this ✨ and @naosouquemprocuras for animating the poster.

posters and visual identity for the film 𝗢 𝗣𝗔𝗟𝗔́𝗖𝗜𝗢 𝗗𝗘 𝗖𝗜𝗗𝗔𝗗𝗔̃𝗢𝗦 (THE PALACE OF CITIZENS) directed by @ruitpires which premiered earlier this year, 50 years after the Carnations’ Revolution, which put an end to a dictatorship period that lasted more than 40 years. this documentary offers a behind-the-scenes look into the Portuguese Parliament, capturing the everyday life of this institution and how politicians, staff and citizens/visitors interact with eachother, from the more solemn moments down to the truly ironic or surreal ones. the peacock, an animal that lives in the gardens of the palace, became a symbol of the politians’ performance and also the humor or irony that disrupt the statue of the Republic or the staircase in the grand hall. the release of the film also coincided with the dissolution of the Parliament and the call for new elections, so a third poster — more foccused on the idea of voting — was also designed. in the end, i also show 5 unused poster proposals. thank you @terratreme.filmes for trusting me with this ✨

poster and visual identity for the film 𝗠𝗜𝗦𝗦𝗜𝗦𝗦𝗜𝗣𝗜𝗦 directed by @oantoniopedro and premiering today in Portuguese cinemas! a documentary about the partnerships and relationships that artistic endeavours can foster in small cities and villages across Portugal, as we follow the rehearsals of a play during a decade and watch how music and dance can bring people together. it’s also a cinematic portrait of our country, how and where some people live, the territory and landscapes, well worth experiencing in cinemas. thank you António-Pedro and @terratreme.filmes for trusting me with this ✨
