The objective of IFTR’s social media page is to share and exchange information about the Federation’s activities. As an international organisation, IFTR has many members for whom English is not their first language. Please bear this in mind when posting information: keep messages simple and clear. Communications should be collegial and respectful to others. IFTR does not tolerate posts or comments containing profanity or discrimination. If you consider a post or comment inflammatory or inappropriate please report it to the Secretary General for Communications so that it can be dealt with quickly. Members may be blocked from the group for posts and comments that contravene these guidelines.
INVITATION to GENERAL ASSEMBLY
The 2022 General Assembly of the Federation will take place during the World Congress in Melbourne on Wednesday, 8 July2026, 1.30 pm. An agenda, documents and the exact venue will be made available via the Federation’s website in due course. We are currently working on a hybrid mode of the General Assembly and will communicate further details.
The General Assembly
The General Assembly, which consists of all members of IFTR, is the sovereign power of the Federation. It establishes the broad outlines of the Federation’s policy, whose implementation is delegated to the Executive Committee. It receives for ratification reports, recommendations and financial statements presented by the Executive Committee and the various officers of the Federation. The General Assembly functions as a forum for discussion and will allow the body of members to articulate concerns that are of interest to the whole Federation.
Representation and voting
Each member has one vote. Each individual member may hold one proxy vote. If you wish to nominate another member as your proxy, please give notice to the Secretary General no later than Monday 1 June 2026.
Notice of forthcoming elections to Executive Committee
The mandate of the current President and Vice-Presidents, and of half the current Executive Committee, expires in 2027. Elections to replace them will be held during 2026. The nominating period for the election of new officers and members will open during the General Assembly and will last for 1 month.
On behalf of the Executive Committee:

Secretary General (Administration)

Dear IFTR members,
Conference registration is now open and Early Bird registration closes on 15 May.
To register, please do so via IFTR.org. After logging into your account, a new menu option will appear on the menu bar, 'Conference Tickets 26'. You may then select the respective band option and it will take you to the Conference website.
Early Bird Band A: Band A members, Concessionary Band A members.
Early Bird Band B: Band B members, Concessionary Band B members.
Student Early Bird: Band A and Band B student members.
We would appreciate if you could select the relevant and appropriate ticket / registration band as we try to automate the correct ticket to your membership type. We are still working on the technicalities of this and we thank you for your patience.
We look forward to seeing you in Melbourne.
Regards,
Marcus Tan

We are happy to announce that TRI has moved to Taylor and Francis!
Visit the IFTR website for more information on IFTR members' access to the journal.

Theatre Research International Vol. 50 Issue 3 is now available on Cambridge Core.
/.../theatre.../latest-issue
This is a special issue on Historiography as Metonymy, edited by RASHNA DARIUS NICHOLSON, TANCREDI GUSMAN, DOROTA SOSNOWSKA.
IFTR members may access the journal via Cambridge Core with their existing login and password. From 1 Jan, TRI will be moved to Taylor and Francis. Access will be through members' login at IFTR.org. More information will follow.
If you are submitting an abstract or bursary, please note that there will be no email confirmation.
The confirmation is shown at the end of the submission process, with the option to download your response (see image). This is the only confirmation you will receive. If you need confirmation, please click on 'download your response as PDF'.
The IFTR conference website ([email protected]) is now ready but a minor issue regarding webhooks / redirection remains and will be solved in the next few days. The issue, however, does not impact abstract submission and bursary application processes.
If you intend to submit either / both application(s) now, please follow the steps to avoid confusion:
a) head to IFTR.org and login. Please note you will need to register as a member on IFTR.org and not use your Cambridge Core account. This applies to renewing your membership.
b) head to the Bursary or Conference 2026 page and click on either bursary or abstract submission respectively.
c) This will take you to the conference website. Click LOGIN at the top right. You will not need to input details again. Instead, you will be shown the abstract submission page and can proceed. If applying for the bursary, simply click the respective page.
Once again, we apologise for the inconvenience and thank you for your kind understanding as we work through these teething issues.
Marcus Tan
Secretary-General (Communications)
The IFTR conference website is not yet ready as there are tests that need to be performed, specifically the membership login function, before it goes live. Abstract submission and bursary applications are thus delayed but we hope to address these issues quickly and get the site live in the next two to three days.
An announcement will be made on all of IFTR's social media platforms and on IFTR.org when the Conference site is ready.
We apologise for the inconvenience and thank you, once again, for your patience and kind understanding.

Secretary-General (Communications)
