About the Class
This is a playful and challenging writing class full of weekly exercises and prompts — ranging from surreal to straightforward, deeply emotional to delightfully dumb — all designed to get you out of your head, tap into your unconscious, and uncover your authentic voice.
Through subverting elements of memoir, theater, fiction, and beyond, you’ll create work that’s vulnerable, funny, fierce, strange, and surprising. The class is built for artists of all kinds — writers, comedians, performers, filmmakers, visual artists — as well as anyone simply curious about creative expression.
Dropouts, shut-ins, and people picked last in gym class are welcome!*
*Jocks, geniuses, and the well-adjusted also welcome. This is an inclusive class.

About Claire
Claire Titelman is an Andy Kaufman Award–nominated comedian, writer, actor, and teacher based in Los Angeles and New York City. Her short film remember me — which she wrote, directed, and performed in — premiered at Sundance 2025.

Hey hey - Helpless is back this Thursday at the Clubhouse, 7-9pm. Each month we feature current and past Idiots performing stripped down Idiot clown. No costumes. No props. No live direction. Just you and a partner and the audience making it work in pure Idiot clown form. This is a chance for folks to take bits they have found in class and attempt to resurrect them in front of an audience. Will these bits actually work in front of a real audience? Let’s find out. This is also an opportunity for folks from all of the Idiot classes to come together and hang out in one place. It’s low stress and all fun. And if you are interested to get a taste of what LA clown and the Idiot Workshop, which kicked off the clown scene back in 2012, is all about, this night might be for you. Alright alright! PWYC.
