Currently Under Construction | Three Rivers Elementary & Secondary School - École publique des Pins Blancs
The Algoma District School Board in collaboration with Conseil scolaire du Grand Nord de l’Ontario are developing a Joint French / English public Elementary School in Blind River, Ontario. This project had a very clear design objective aimed at maximizing shared space, infrastructure, and construction efficiency, while maintaining individual autonomy for each Board. The project includes shared functional areas such as a student commons, cafeteria, gymnasium and multi-purpose rooms. The student commons and cafeteria, located adjacent to the entry of the school, is designed to be transformed into a performance space with panoramic views to the exterior. The school contains JK to 8 for each board, a Daycare, and secondary highschool (grades 9 to 12) for ADSB. A Child Care wing including a Family Room and two Early-On Rooms also form part of the school.

IDEA Inc. is excited to share the new VCA Alta Vista Specialty and Emergency Veterinary Centre in Ottawa.
Located at 2220 Walkley Road, this 55,000 sq. ft. facility is considered one of the largest animal hospitals in North America. It was designed in 2023 and built between 2024 and 2025.
The hospital brings leading-edge veterinary technology to the Ottawa region, with spacious recovery areas and WELL design principles supporting staff spaces. Two large waiting areas are connected by a central stair with dual reception desks, providing access to key departments including Emergency, ICU, Surgery, Imaging, Oncology, Dentistry, Neurology, Ophthalmology, Cardiology, and Internal Medicine.
This project was a true team effort between our Ottawa and Sault Ste. Marie offices, our Mechanical and Electrical teams, and our trusted partners and trades: Sense Engineering, Animal Arts, Westview Projects Inc., Jennings Real Estate Corporation, Falkbuilt (Montreal, Toronto & Ottawa), Burovision, BDA Lighting Group, EuroTile, Terruni Group Corporation, Vétérinov, CASCO Innovations, Amico Group of Companies, and many others who helped bring this vision to life.
We are now starting Phase Two: General Practice, and we look forward to hearing about the positive experiences of clients and their pets at this remarkable facility.

Currently Under Construction | The Rankin Arena
The Rankin Arena, an existing community centre owned and operated by Batchewana First Nation, is being revitalized through a multiple phase project. The first phase is currently under construction and will include:
* Upgrades to the envelope to increase thermal performance
* Renovation of the existing washroom facilities to enable accessibility
* Construction of a new two-storey lobby to create a new entrance hub for the facility
The design for the re-imagined facility uses a warm material palette and natural elements such as wood, copper, and stone. Soft edges and circular forms are integrated in the design to represent wholeness, unity, and infinity. The interconnection between spaces in the new lobby is to promote community togetherness and gathering.

IDEA Inc.’s holistic approach to high performance building design relies heavily on the shared vision of each member of its team.
On January 1 2025, IDEA Inc. welcomed Catrina Pastore as Principal Architect at the firm!
Following closely in her father’s footsteps, Catrina graduated from Carleton University School of Architecture and became a licensed architect with the Ontario Association of Architects. Catrina has long been an integral part of IDEA Inc.’s operations, having worked in both Ottawa and Sault Ste. Marie offices before permanently relocating to Sault Ste. Marie in 2020. In the years leading up to her partnership, Catrina had the privilege of working alongside her father Franco, learning directly from his experience and vision.
Catrina exhibits a holistic understanding of the integrated approach to building design and project management. She has invested a considerable period of her professional career developing the skills required to master the delivery of complex projects.
Welcome to the leadership team Catrina!
It is with heavy hearts that we share with you the Memorial Tribute in honor of Franco Pastore.

On behalf of all of the Partners and Staff at IDEA we share our deepest condolences with the Pastore Family and hope you will all join us in remembering Franco fondly.

IDEA, together with Stantec and The City of Ottawa, have been working hard to create a new vision for the Mooney’s Bay Beach Pavilion in Ottawa, Ontario!
The team is currently preparing a feasibility study for the future replacement of the beach pavilion; the home to many major summer events including the Ottawa Dragon Boat Festival and H.O.P.E Beach Volleyball SummerFest.
Two preliminary concept options have been developed; both aimed to improve the existing urban landscape, address the spatial needs of the community, and propose high quality, yet functional architectural and landscape design strategies.
The concept options have been posted on Engage Ottawa for public consumption and consultation.

Last week our team had the pleasure of hosting Isabelle and Paul, two up-and-coming architectural technologists, from @algonquincollege as part of an annual week long co-op placement. The program teaches students the foundations of drafting, rendering, modern construction methods and more, and we're always happy to have their students join our team for some hands-on experience in the industry!
