“Digvitium”
Dignity/Vice—lat;Dignus//Vitium
Digvitium combines the words “Dignity” and “Vice” (Dignus/Vitium), concepts that are reflected in hip-hop culture.
Born as a form of rebellion and expression against injustice, this culture is also inspired by religious themes, such as the inverted cross, a symbol of humility used by Saint Peter. Like Peter, hip-hop artists pay respect to the old school, paying homage to its music and legacy.
However, while honoring the past, hip-hop has evolved toward luxury, drugs, and flexing, losing sight of its roots.
Similarly, the church has gone from being the voice of the people to a controversial and ostentatious institution.
