Coming soon : 'HOARSE HORSE" a solo exhibition by Ida Lawrence at ISA Art Gallery (29 November - 7 February 2026) The sentence 'And do you know how I knew it was a fox who’d stolen my shoes?' emerged from an offhand remark made by Lawrence’s friend Karla. The original context of their conversation has since slipped from memory, yet the sentence lingered. Its odd specificity opening a small imaginative rift. Lawrence recalls drifting away the moment she heard it, picturing a fox padding off in a pair of human shoes. Extending the wider ecology of the HOARSE HORSE exhibition by Ida Lawrence at ISA Art Gallery, the public programme invites audiences to engage with the exhibition beyond the gallery walls. An artist-led interactive talk unfolds through shared storytelling, open dialogue, and participatory actions, offering visitors a closer encounter with the ideas and processes that shape the work. This is followed by a sonic response by musician and composer Khaled Kurbeh, performed live within the gallery. Drawing together cow bells, cat collars, bird-call whistles, field recordings, and improvised electro-acoustic textures, Kurbeh composes an immersive auditory landscape, one that resonates and vibrates alongside Lawrence’s unsettled worlds. 🐴🐴 A big thank you to all the human beings who joined us at @isaart.id on Saturday to celebrate the opening of HOARSE HORSE ❤️❤️ The exhibition title turned out to be a premonition — I had so many wonderful conversations that I was already starting to lose my voice halfway through the opening! I am feeling so grateful and satisfied and happy to have been able to gather with you all — dear friends who travelled across the city and from afar, new friends I met for the first time at the opening, the wonderful ISA Art Gallery staff, the generous hosts @ralineshah @tiffmediana @jeanclaudia who warmly opened the show, people whose curiosity brought them to the gallery for the first time, and many others I didn’t get to meet and speak with unfortunately. It was certainly a joy for me to watch people having a fun time together in the space — meeting one another, playing with the installations and spending time with my story-paintings. There are a lot of people to thank who helped bring this project to life with me in Jakarta, in Berlin where my studio is, and beyond.
