Cousin to Jit Samaroo, Carlton is one the key members of the Samaroo Jets. He began playing the cuatro with their family combo band in the 1960s and eventually joined the Samaroo Jets playing the steelpan. Today, Carlton, Sonalal and a few members still perform with the Samaroo Jets.

Brother to Jit Samaroo, Killer is one of Trinidad and Tobago’s most legendary drummers. The drummer for the Samaroo Jets since the age of six, Killer made his name performing for steelpan, soca and calypso bands redefining the sound of the drums in T&T music, both as a performer and later as a music educator.

“The band was led by Jit Samaroo. It consisted of two tenor pans, a double second, a treble guitar and a six base and a drum kit. Sonalal pointed out, “It was Samaroo’s Kids, then Samaroo’s Family and then to Samaroo’s Jets which became sponsored by Pan American and then KLM.”
