Today, I stand here at 25, reflecting on the remarkable path that has brought me to this moment. Allow me to introduce myself: I'm Destiny Ada Nwadire, the Creative Director of DNA by Iconic Invanity. My passion lies in crafting unique pieces that empower women, giving them a sense of authority and identity.
This journey began when my family relocated from London to Lagos, Nigeria in 2008. It was during this time that my mother founded Iconic Invanity in a small home studio in Parkview Estate. Our family business became a part of our lives, and I, alongside my sister Alanis, eagerly immersed ourselves in the world of fashion. We started with making tea for customers and eavesdropping on client consultations, witnessing the entire creative process. Business, for us, didn't observe holidays, and my mother's dedication as a mompreneur served as a relentless inspiration.
Through many sacrifices and opportunities for growth, I launched my own brand and showcased my first collection at the age of 16 at the Lagos Fashion and design week in 2015, while pursuing my A-levels. My journey has been marked by unwavering dedication, unyielding perseverance, and a fiery passion for creative expression.
Balancing my education and business pursuits, I proudly graduated from the
@portsmouthuni in 2021 with a BSc in Digital Marketing. As a young woman, I'm driven by the boundless potential further education and learning offer to women in shaping their lives. Presently, I find myself wearing multiple hats, running my business while pursuing my Master's degree at University College London (
@ucl ) in Prosperity, Innovation and Entrepreneurship.
I count myself immensely fortunate to be supported by my parents, mentored by my remarkable mother, Nancy Nwadire of Iconic Invanity, and inspired by the enduring spirit of creativity.
My journey has been a testament to the power of hard work, unwavering dedication, and an unrelenting passion for innovation.
