I feel truly honored to have been given the opportunity to spend the whole month of February at Bumii, learning glaze intensively.
Thank you so much to the entire Bumii team, especially @oliviagsutanto and @harris.soetikno , for the guidance and generosity.
And thank you, @yusiyuansaa , for introducing me to Bumii in the first place. See you all again soon 🌷🫶🏼✨🍀
In a world of rigid forms, Zuraisa sculpts softness. Her ceramics hold curves, contrast, and the complexity of being a woman. In Zuraisa’s hands, ceramic becomes a quiet argument about how women are shaped and how they resist.

Sharing Session: Glazing Internship at Bumii
Hi, I’m Zuraisa, an Indonesian ceramic artist working mainly with tiles. My practice explores memory, ornament, and lived experience through material research.
Understanding glaze chemistry transformed the way I see ceramics, not just as surface decoration, but as a dialogue between science, intuition, and storytelling.
In this session, I’ll share insights from my apprenticeship at Bumii, where I learned glaze formulation and turned recipes into test tiles. I’ll talk about how those technical experiments shaped the way I work today, and how research and play in the studio continue to influence my artistic practice.
Please join us at Bumii Studio on Thursday, 26th February from 3PM onwards!💛
