7 is such weird age because what do you mean you still need us to cut your pancakes at breakfast and then two hours later you’re dialing in your own tire pressure and racing around an icy cyclocross course with women six (7?) times your age.

Blue Hills Devo closed out the 2025 season with a few hundred of our closest (weirdest?) friends at the 17th annual @iceweasels cyclocross race in Southwick, MA on Saturday. The (very) unofficial New England World Championship™️ is a celebration of everything that makes this community so great. 🧊❄️💙

We are approaching statistically significant amounts of data: this Saturday will be the 6th time in 17 Ice Weasels that snow has been part of the experience. Is early December in Massachusetts actually snowy a third of the time? Maybe?
The photos in order--
2009: White Barn Farm. Dave Wilcox was a frontrunner in both the costume competition and the elite race.
2013: Rowley aka "The Castle": Just a dusting on the ground to start, but it was dumping snow by the singlespeed race and snowed a foot that night. Also, someone was a giraffe.
2017: Riverpoint Park: Another one that started dry but was nuking by the end. You will be shocked to know that Santa is not sober in this photo.
2024: The Wick: Just last year!! Packed snow in the field, dry ground in the woods, ice in the shade. As rad as it gets!
2019 (honorable mention): This is the year that we had snow on the ground and 3 inches of rain on race day, so we moved the race from Saturday to Sunday. No one got to ride in snow but no one died in a snowy mud pit and we didnt spend 10k on landscaping.🎛

This year: wait does it just always snow the Tuesday of Ice Weasels now?
As far as we know, @stage1cycling is undefeated in the Ice Weasel Team Costume Contest. Possibly because this is not a real category, but also because they Team Costume so hard that no one else even dares challenge them!
Like most weird stuff on race day, we never told anyone to do it, but we sure love that they did.
Look outside your window. It's barely 4pm and THE DARKNESS is already gripping New England. The earliest sunset of the year is nearly upon us: December 6th.
If only there were something you could do on December 6th that was sufficiently life-giving to protect you from seasonal affective disorder's strongest incursion into your mental health!
