Another trip around the sun complete. This past lap was quite a wild one, as I’m sure it was for everyone. But for me, although the chaos of crazy presidents, lockdowns and restrictions is something I never want to experience again, it also had some great unexpected silver linings. I re-connected with my passion for surfing and the ocean, I realized how much I took climbing in a gym or outdoors for granted and now value each time I have the opportunity to climb with my friends even more. Long story short, although this year has been crazy, it’s kinda been crazy awesome. Thank you to everyone who made this past year so special 🙏.

WE SO BACK! So incredibly amped to have sent this mega rig this past weekend a little over 6 weeks out from a major left knee LCL injury. This climb was ideal, as all the heavy leg use is on the right/non-injured leg. After a full day session on this on Friday with my brother helping as a pad caddie, I walked away empty handed despite climbing all the way through from the bottom and falling at the crux several times. I knew if it came back the next morning - I’d have a chance if i did it first try (although with less pads and no spot). Early the next morning, about 35+ moves later I ended up on top! This one felt extra spicy to do solo - with only one pad, one blubber, a blanket and no spotter. Definitely a send I won’t forget! Thanks for showing this to me @ryan.lieberman and sick FA @richierich__k . And @mesarim_mv for keeping my fingers strong thru my recovery.

Warm day up at Tramway, but still managed to send this rig in the morning during the shade window. Shocked I’ve never been to this thing before. Cool body tension moves on small crimps leads to an explosive jump for the lip. Uncharacteristically left my sunglasses in my pack and ended up getting blinded on the top out and nearly punted 😂. End of an era. 20 years and 240,000 miles later I said goodbye to my Honda yesterday. Bought the car new when I was 16 - the number of memories and adventures I’ve had in that car will be impossible to reproduce with any other vehicle. Pretty much my first of everything happened in the Honda. My first actual date where i drove, my first climbing trip, first surf trip, first day leaving home for college. This list goes on. Soooo psyched to put this one down today after punting the top more times than I’m willing to admit yesterday. Very aesthetic boulder with high quality movement. The very insecure and tricky finish sequence makes this full value. A double alpine knee was needed on the send go in a classic desperation top out. Thanks for the spot @ryan.lieberman . Still managing to get onto of rocks in this heat 🥵

Hot day out in red rock but managed to get on top of a few boulders. This new one from @ryan.lieberman was 👌. Very cool suspended bloc with unique moves and just the right amount of spiciness off the deck. Much taller than expected

Stoked to finally put this rig down. I first came to this climb back in grad school and got close on a few sessions but could never link the weird finish sequence from the bottom. Fast forward 10 years later I got around to getting back on it and despite numb fingers and a spooky dry fire at the top, got the send. V9 felt accurate for the grade. Now that I’ve done this I’m excited to go get on shutts squeeze V8

Perfect compression bloc sitting down in first pullout. Awesome find/FA by @basaltbae . Really had to fight for the left hand final crux hold since it had been baking in the sun and my hand was sliding off from the second i grabbed it. So forgive the Elvis-arm i had going on there 😂.
