Please join us in congratulating and welcoming our incoming graduate wind conducting students, Laurel Stinson and Meg Siergiey! Laurel Stinson is an accomplished music educator and conductor with over 15 years of experience in ensemble leadership, curriculum development, and performance-based learning across New York City schools and community organizations. Currently Lead Music Teacher at Success Academy HSLA-Manhattan, she has built comprehensive band programs, produced major concert events, and performed at prestigious venues including Carnegie Hall, the Barclays Center, and multiple national conferences. Stinson has overseen programs serving up to 500 students and has earned consistent “Highly Effective” teaching ratings for her leadership, mentorship, and innovative curriculum design. Her work has been nationally recognized through the Manilow Music Project Award. A founding member and conductor of the Gotham City Music Collective, she remains active as both a community music leader and performer, including appearances over 50 concerts with the Brooklyn Wind Symphony. Meghan “Meg” Siergiey is a multifaceted conductor and educator completing her third year at Bishop Stang High School, where she directs band, jazz band, chorus, and select choir. She is dedicated to fostering musical growth through supportive, student-centered instruction and has revitalized several areas of the school’s music program, including the Bishop Stang Pep Band. She has served as music director and assisted with choreography for the annual spring musical, prepared students for regional choral festivals and solo opportunities, and coaches the BSHS Dance Team. Meg is an alumna of Ithaca College, holding a degree in Music Education with a concentration in clarinet. She has furthered her conducting studies at the Northeast Wind Conducting Symposium and the University of Michigan with distinguished clinicians including Col. Jason Fettig, Dr. Mallory Thompson, Dr. Courtney Snyder, and Dr. Daniel Cook. She is excited to return to Ithaca College this fall to begin her MM in Wind Conducting. She is joined by her shadow and musical companion, her cat Rosiley (a.k.a. “Peach)!
