The #amvca12 isn't just a celebration of film, fashion, and passion, but also of diligence, consistency and excellence.
This year's #AMVCA came with a lot of twists that left a lot of actors, filmmakers and producers fans' hopes dashed. But one amazing thing for me remains that the best of the best won and of course, that best of the best isn't for the actual winners alone, but also for the other amazing talents nominated alongside them. The #AMVCA is already a huge win for every creative nominated and who continues to stay true to the essence of storytelling and entertainment.
Yes! My finest win of the night remains filmmaker/Director Niyi Akinmolayan's #ColoursOfFire which gave
@uzor.arukwe the Best Lead Actor in a movie. That win sits right with me considering the momentum and years of creative excellence Uzor has put into his craft.
After #LoveInEveryWord, many movie lovers felt Uzor was being boxed into a tight corner, that typical wealthy Igbo character with the insanely funny Igbo-English lexicons and cultural dramagon. Some of us argued against this because of the versatility, brilliance and soul-lifting artistry he brings to every project. Still, people weren't ready to accept it.
Now, the AMVCA has not only validated Uzor's immense dexterity and versatility, it has also placed before everyone the creative brilliance, excellence and extraordinaire performance he brings to every role. Yet, many still chose to downplay that triumph by claiming his win was a cumulation of all his performances. Haba! That is unfair.
A lot of you completely ignored the artistic and aesthetic excellence in Niyi Akinmolayan's masterpiece, ColoursOfFire. The film is lush, enchanting, immersive and incredibly innovative. From the radiance and dexterous colour combinations to the soothing musical scores and deliberately measured performances, Colours of Fire isn't just a film, it's an invaluable export of innovation, something rarely achieved in Nollywood before.
Hear it loudly, that category was keenly contested. The best of the best were nominated and one film with lustrous artistic excellence, spectacular performances and innovation WON.
Hail
@niyi_akinmolayan
