Lee recently had the opportunity to travel to Switzerland to take part in his first meeting as a member of the UCI Equipment and New Technology Commission.
It was a genuinely significant moment—not just personally, but for the discipline of bike fitting as a whole. For the first time, a practitioner whose primary focus is the interface between rider and machine is part of these conversations at the highest level of the sport.
The Commission itself is deliberately small. Being entrusted with one of those positions carries a clear responsibility: to contribute thoughtfully, objectively, and in the best interests of cycling as a whole.
What stood out most during this meeting was the depth and seriousness with which equipment innovation is being considered. Decisions made in this environment shape not only elite competition, but also influence the direction of technology across the wider industry.
Lee's role is to ensure that the rider remains central to those discussions. Performance, safety, and fairness are all ultimately experienced through the human body, and it’s vital that this perspective is properly represented.
He is grateful for the opportunity to contribute, and looks forward to supporting the ongoing work of the Commission in a way that reflects both the responsibility of the role and the importance of the decisions being made.
During the IBFI global conference this year in Silverstone Lee had the very great honour of being awarded one of these badges from bike fitting legend Happy Freedman.

It’s the #openingweekend and we are glued to the TV watching Omloop and KBK. But, given all the stuff we see on here and on YouTube about ‘aero’ positions, ‘pro’ positions and ‘bike fitting pros’ it still looks like the fundamentals are being missed even at this level. Could be wrong, could be making false assumptions but…. A very low handlebar position to reduce watts will exaggerate an existing pelvic asymmetry and may cause a functional leg length discrepancy. A rider’s feet must be fixed so that they become a component (lever) of the bike, the ground is metaphorically brought up to the foot so that it is in its best functional position. Get this right and all the other chatter about crank lengths and hood position and ribbed socks can be listed to later. #bikefit #cyclefit #cycling #bike
Busy week for @cyclologic in the UK presenting at the @ibfi_certification Conference. It was great to get the Bike Fitting community back together once again! @cyclologic will host the conference in Scottsdale as part of @tourdescottsdale week of festivities in 2027!!
Now we are back and had some time to reflect . What an amazing conference to be part of. Bike fitters from all around the world travelled to Silverstone to share knowledge and wisdom to help cyclists have a better experience on the bike. We were blown away by some of the education we have received and we hope we added value to all attendees that were part of our workshops.
Above all , in conclusion comfort is key to get a better performance on the bike.
