A prominent Ibadan-based cleric, Senior Prophet Gbenga Faith David, he changed his name base on God's direction. According to him, whenever God encounters someone deeply, He often changes their name to reflect a new season.
Speaking at a press conference held at the headquarters of Faith and Miracle International Church (FMIC) in Ibadan, the Capital City of Oyo State on Tuesday, the General Overseer, formerly known as G.F. Adetuberu delivered a strong message on national leadership, religion, and the current state of the country.
He said, "every time God has an encounter with His servants, something changes, and in many cases, that change comes with a new name. In the Old Testament, we saw Jacob become Israel; we saw Jabez receive a new identity after crying to God. So whenever God encounters someone deeply, He often changes their name to reflect a new season.
"As for me, Iโve always been โDavid.โ Itโs a prophetic name that was given to me as a child. But in this recent season, God impressed it strongly on my spirit that there had to be a shift in the realm of the spirit, and one of the physical signs of that shift was a name change.
โDavidโ represents authority, courage, and boldness, a reminder that Iโm not called to be like everyone else. David was never afraid; he faced Goliath and many battles and won mighty victories for God. David was also a worshipper, a man after Godโs own heart. So for me, this name change wasnโt about rebranding or attention, it was about obedience and stepping fully into the prophetic assignment God has placed on my life.
Addressing the President directly, Prophet David cautioned against granting amnesty to individuals involved in killings and violent crimes, stressing that justice must not be compromised.
While acknowledging the complexities of insecurity and insurgency in the country, Prophet David maintained that government responses must be guided by justice rather than expediency.
โEveryone must be treated fairly. Policies must reflect justice, not convenience. When people see fairness, it restores confidence in leadership,โ he noted.
โLeadership must be rooted in fairness. People should be given what they deserve.๐๐
