As you will all know due to my ice spam recently, today is a very big day. My film Hold Your Breath - The Ice Dive is out today on Netflix. It's been a long journey with many ups and downs but the film is much better for it. Once again thanks to an amazing team with special thanks to @swiftandfar @clementint @hannaaqvilin and @julesquantrill . There is also an interesting back story to this film and how it came about. In 2014 I was hit by a car while cycling. If that accident had never happened I would never have made this film. For those interested I've written about it, it's been quite a personal journey. Link is in the bio. Finally a massive thank to two amazing women. @johannanordblad and @elinamanninen Big love ā¤ļø #holdyourbreath #Netflix #director

This journey with Johanna is slowly coming to an end. From her bike crash that created her story to my bike crash which enabled me to tell her story, it's been quite a ride. Highs, lows, tears and triumph. I sometimes use Instagram almost as a scrapbook for memories, so I'm posting these 4 pictures for when I'm old (even older) and I can remember this moment. To see the images we created with such an iconic logo is truly inspirational. Let's hope we win šŸ™šŸ» Big thanks and big love to all that made this film and all those who've supported me. X P.s I have another documentary I'm currently making so don't worry I will make sure I spam you with that one too šŸ˜‚ #bafta #bestphotography #followyourdream #spam #netflix #holdyourbreaththeicedive

Spam alert. I just got sent these and thought it'd be a shame not to mention as it might not happen again! (although I'm going to give it a bloody good try) Finding @johannanordblad and conceiving and directing this film has been an amazing journey. I seem to be surrounded by strong woman which is a pretty incredible place to be. Thanks as always to the team @swiftandfar @bluearthprod @elinamanninen @clementint @hannaaqvilin @julesquantrill @vicparker #bafta #emmy #holdyourbreaththeicedive #netflix #filmmaking

David Attenborough turns 100 today. A huge moment for one of greatest Englishmen in history. A man whose life has been spent trying to educate us and ultimately understand the planet we live on. A man whose legacy is based on real not false information, a man whose principles have only ever been focused on doing the right thing and telling the true story. On the same day another man is gradually using hate to divide us. A man who has none of the attributes of a genuine educator but all the attributes of a fascist lunatic. Maybe a coincidence but maybe a moment where we look at our heroes of a 100 years and understand their intelligence and forward thinking rather than the charlatans who will pedal hate to divide us. Happy birthday legend. Be more David x Photo by me.

This June I am cycling for 8 days from Venice to Menton covering 1100 km and climbing 70,000 feet to raise money to beat cancer. Last year 34 of us raised 115k for the Imperial Health Charity blood fund. I’ve done the Fireflies ride for the last 2 years and honestly it’s the hardest thing I’ve ever done but also one of the most rewarding. June is also a milestone birthday (I was born the year we won the World Cup) Not everyone reaches this milestone so to celebrate I wanted to do something in the memory of others that have not been so fortunate. As many of you know I no longer live in the UK so there’ll be no drinks or celebrations with friends and colleagues from years gone by, instead, maybe you could buy me a pint or 2 or even 10 or 20 but in the form of a donation! Every pint (or bottle of rose for those that know me well ) will contribute to saving the lives of those who’ve not it made this far, those who are fighting now, and those who hopefully wont need to suffer in the future. Somebody asked me recently why I share so much political stuff on here including alot about immigration. Maybe this is a good time to explain or maybe it’s just an over share. The reason is my family has a proud Indian history. My grandmother on my father’s side was Anglo Indian and came to this country in 1947. She was a trained nurse so was integrated into a fledgeling NHS which was formed in 1948. She worked in many different areas and she was always so proud to put on her uniform and help others, she worked hard at her exams and had a very successful career until her retirement. We lived in Portsmouth but we’d travel up to Staines for family gatherings at weekends where we would eat more curry than I’ve ever known. Everybody would bring a dish and I guess thats where I got my taste for it which still remains to this day. Some family were Anglo Indian, some Indian and some English or Scottish who had married or been born into the melting pot of cultures. I’d never properly tapped into it until recently but after scratching the surface deeper I’m realising the incredibly positive impact my families multiculturalism has had. Multiply that millions of times over and that is the history that has created this country from cultures all over the world. I’m proud of that. #immigration #liveandletlive #compassion #understanding #avoidmisinformation #eastandsoutheastasianheritagemonth Photo 1. My Grandmother Aileen Photo 2. Day 1. 135.67 km 3,041 m climbing Day 2. 107.24 km 2,647 m climbing Day 3. 93.18 km 2,027 m climbing Day 4. 162.77 km 4,126 m climbing Day 5. 66.89 km 1,574 m climbing Day 6. 156.99 km 2,985 m climbing Day 7. 161.37 km 2,393 m climbing Day 8. 114.38 km 2,561 m climbing Total distance. 998.49 km Total climbing. 21,327 metres Wearing the Fireflies shirt and being part of this family is one of the proudest things I have ever done but the main reason why we do it is to raise money for those less fortunate than ourselves. Cancer is a killer, it indiscriminately changes and takes life, it destroys lives, it decimates families and it leaves irreplaceable spaces where a loved once was. We cannot sit still and let it infiltrate our lives, we must fight back. That’s why The Fireflies was created and that’s why we ride. This year 33 riders supported by an amazing crew have raised Ā£103k. This money will go towards research into blood cancer and hopefully lessen the burden of this awful disease in the future. To my fellow band of brothers and sisters you are a family, a family I am so proud to be part of. Each turn of the pedals got us closer to our target, the laughter, the pain, the elation and the tears. One of the main things that keeps us going is the messages of good luck and encouragement that come with each donation. I know this year has been tough for alot of people so each donation means more than ever. Some of you who’ve donated Ive never met, some have donated more than once, some have apologised for having to wait till payday but still did it, one person who donated is no longer with us as cancer took them. It’s pretty emotional to see people genuinely wanting to help. We appreciate every single penny you wonderful people have donated and let’s hope that the money can go to saves lives in the future. Once again I am joining the most inspiring group of people to raise essential funds to support Hammersmith Hospital Blood Cancer Unit. Along with 30 others we are cycling from Aix-les-Bains to Nice between the 8th and 15th June 2025. That’s 8 days, 1000 kilometres and over 18,000 metres of climbing. The FireFlies rides have been going for 25 years so in this anniversary year we collectively want to make it a special one. Over those years with various global rides they have collectively raised nearly 5 million pounds for blood cancer charities and cycled over 1.2 million kilometres. It’s not cheap to join this ride and it takes alot of time and dedication to train for months beforehand but it’s doesn’t even compare to what having blood cancer must be like. The motto is ā€˜for those that suffer we ride’. We take in some of the most iconic climbs the Alps has to offer. Many are ridden by the professionals in the Tour de France, the Col du Galibier, Col de la Madeleine and the historic Alpe d’huez. Last year in The Pyrenees there were days where I didn’t think I would finish but testament to the camaraderie and support of this group I did, their mantra is nobody gets left behind. At times it was emotional, there was more than one moment when I tried to speak but no words would come out. I know how tough things are right now, trust me I have had better years but we still need fight on to help the research into these awful diseases and hopefully save lives now and in the future. Any donation is welcome, anything, big or small. From me and all my fellow riders thanks you for any support you can give, its very much appreciated. The link is in my bio. Ian x. Let me introduce you to Miss Daisy Derry. She is a young woman who has not been dealt the easiest hand in life. Her dyslexia meant that she struggles with everyday academia. She has extra Maths , she has extra English, she works so hard to make up for the limitations that dyslexia has dealt her. Despite this she has worked hard at her passions, theatre, lighting, set building, production design, she’s been immense. When the hard work didn’t pay off with results she still kept working. If it was a 3 not a 4 it was exhausting but she NEVER gave up. Today she won, she got her dream place at The Brit School @thebritschool she got what she deserved and every person who fights for something deserves. Fight for your dreams, they can come true. @daisy_hd_ I’m so proud of you. Love Dad x

Rod is 80 and despite his late attempts to look like my Nan he is still got a back catalogue of genius. In 2010 I photographed him at the Dorchester hotel. It was a tough time because I had a daughter but had split up with her mother. So, I had a shoot with Rod but it was the day I had my daughter (one day in a month) I asked my mother to have my daughter for those 4 hours. I was setting up the lights with my assistants and chatting to Rod’s wife Penny about photography when out the corner of my eye I saw my mother chatting to Rod! No doubt telling him how much she loved Sailing as it was an anthem for the navy that my father was in. Anyway, we started the shoot and my daughter Daisy was sat on Penny’s lap while we were shooting. Daisy loved the shoot so I jokingly asked Rod to sing wheels on the bus which at that point was her favourite song! He did but she had no idea what this situation was. There is no video just memories. Thank you Rod and happy 80th šŸ™Œ
