I love to create and those that create. Sometimes the most gifted seem to be the most in tuned to the God frequency, whose antennae are primed and ready to receive. These transmissions can come through dreams, whispers, inspiration...It takes work, craft, discipline to bring life into these flickers of godliness. These works of art. I woke up one morning hearing a message from my mother (who's on the other side) saying to me, "if you want to be different then you have to do different". I was having a challenging time then and it was the message that I needed to hear. I wrote the song "Mama Said" as a way to deliver her message to me, to share it with you all. "Mama Said" by Ian Friday will drop on May 7th exclusively on Traxsource just in time for Mother's Day. Thank you Mom for always being there for me.

And I'm so mad at you
So mad at myself for all of the things that we've left undone. I feel schizophrenic really because I am so so grateful for all the gifts that you shared with me. All the lessons that you taught. You used to thank me for stopping you from quitting but without you I wouldn't have started this crazy music journey. Music production, songwriting we held each other's hand and leapt into the unknown. You gave me the courage to try, demanded my best gently and we created fearlessly like children. Had all those musicians in my house recording. What a time we had and they all came for you out of respect for your talented ass. And I don't know why or what to do now. Perhaps God just needs more light warriors on the other side to combat all the darkness over here. Your light will always shine, you are no longer an angel in disguise. I love you Maritri, you will never be forgotten.
