MEET THE TEAM!β¨ | Owner - Ian Smith
Ian is an Entrepreneur from Toronto with a background in management consulting and operations! He first came to learn of BFF in the spring of 2023. Looking for a new business adventure, Ian has always focused on areas that he also loves and has a passion for - so the idea of working with dogs sounded pawfect!πΎ As a busy individual himself, Ian understands the importance of having a reliable and safe option for our furbabys (the running joke is, he couldnβt find a boarding business that he felt good with so he bought his ownπ). Outside of work, Ian enjoys staying active, relaxing nights at home, and good food and π·!)
βIβm excited to continue to build on the amazing foundation BFF has! Itβs been great working with the team these last couple of months, I feel like weβve been able to make some fairly large enhancements in a really short time, and canβt wait to continue elevating things in 2024! Itβs also been super cool to meet so many long term clients - some that have been staying with us for 7+ years! Great people, and even better dogs!ππΆβ

In the first 5 minutes of this event, I was on my back - starring at the sky, while hundreds of swimmers plowed past me. Heart rate was through the roof, looking at the lifeguard canoes - figured this was done and was planning my exit. Thinking if this was the state I was in before even 100M in the water, how on earth would I finish the swim, never mind anything else. Talked myself into not quitting, and talked myself to just take it 1 step at a time, without worrying exactly where that would get me. Fast forward 5 hours, all those little steps had me off the bike, on the run, and with the realization - Iβm going to finish. When you canβt see the end, focus on the next step.

The moment that almost ended my race before it even began, turned out to be a carrying force for this whole day. There was plenty of other surprises along the way here, and lots of things that didnβt go well - but as each came up, I thought back to the starting whistle, and laying belly up wondering what to do. In a funny way, the worst start I could of imagined might of actually been the reason I finished.
