Masters 🥈 at @afmmontrouge Historical Models painting competition.
Hearing my name called was a true goosebumps moment.
In such a stacked field, surrounded by incredibly talented painters, this means a lot. I know awards are just small tokens and we shouldn't give them too much importance, but having the work, the hours, the commitment recognised: that hits differently.
What I take from this: perseverance always pays off. There were moments of doubt, between the sheer amount of work these models require, and balancing it all with life (and two kids), every painting session has to count. Staying consistent and motivated is a challenge in itself.
Huge respect to all the painters there, there were so many incredible pieces on display. Truly humbling.

This weekend was the Paris Wargame Expo, and I was fortunate enough to take home Silver in the Masters Category of the Painting Open.
While the event hosted the largest French 40k tournament (that I didn’t play in; the field is way too competitive for me!), I entered the painting competition and presented my 2025 works for the display.
A massive thank you to the judges @niko_deze , @studio_delavida , @apprendre_la_peinture_sur_fig for managing over a hundred entries and running everything so smoothly. You were absolute heroes throughout the weekend.
I’m incredibly proud to have earned Silver, especially among a field of Golden Demon winners I’ve admired for years. Huge congratulations to Baptiste Richebé for taking Gold and Best in Show — what a well-deserved achievement.
It was a pleasure meeting so many talented painters @bap.ric , @art_ifficiel , @paintwithskeen , @solodungeoneering and many others. Cheers to everyone who stopped by the display area and checked out the models. Your encouragement and kind words meant a lot. Great to meet @warha.dventure as well!
And a special thanks to @keftaminis for convincing me to jump into the Masters category. That advice definitely paid off! Love you man. And thank you @pierre.ribrag for pushing me to higher standards. Keep pushing! (And good luck for GD this year)
More than the award itself, connecting with the painters and being part of this event definitely reboosted me to dive into new projects... Time to get back to the painting desk, inspiration is running high.

Kill Team - Hand of the Archon!
My Warhammer sidekick managed to drive me away from Napoleonics to paint a Kill Team to play with the group. To be honest, he didn't have to convince me much: i already had some models built for the Hand of the Archon that were desperately asking for a paintjob!
So here are the first 3 members: Archsybarite Khepres "Neverbreath", Disciple of Yaelindra Uless "Of Few Mercies" and Flayer Quvelich "The Apotheosor".
Had tons of the fun painting these first 3 guys. It made me remember just how much I like Dark Eldar (@skyserpent40k must be proud!). The Disciple of Yaelindra has to be my favourite for the moment, I love the grenade and her role in the gang.

🃏My other addiction - Sorcery: Contested Realm.
While I spend hours painting models, I also collect and play @sorcerytcg . An incredible game with traditional art (not that digital slop you see on many tcg these days!) The game in very good and highly strategic, but what drew me even more to the game, is the art on the cards.
This weekend, I had the chance to meet @severinepineaux in Bretagne and she agreed to sign a few of my cards featuring her art. I am very thankful, and now my decks will shine even more!
Her art is veryinspirational, andd I can't wait to collect more!

The Austrian army grows! Now the Landwehr arrives on the battlefield.
The Landwehr was the national militia of the Austrian Empire.The farsighted and innovative Austrian Archduke Charles developed the idea of a territorial reserve, whose basic concept intended a kind of militia system with purely defensive character.
They were formed to provide garrisons and internal security, thus releasing full-time soldiers for duty on campaign. Despite this limited objective, in 1809 some were used in the field army, to counter the advance of the French army that ultimately won the 5th Coalition War at Wagram.
The models are from @pianowargames , who produces my favourite napolenic models! They are in metal.
Very happy with the progress of the army! Still quite a lot to paint but it's a lot of fun!

Austrian army - Adjutant and messenger.
Coming back from a large painting competition, I wanted to paint something relaxing, without too much thinking. And I didn't want to commit to a full regiment just yet..
So I just painted an Austrian Adjutant (on horse, galloping) and Jaeger messenger for fun. They are both carrying orders from the General to other leaders.
They'll serve as fancy tokens in my napoleonic games to signify that a Brigade leader has passed his activation test as he received urgent orders to move his men!

Charge! For the Emperor!

For the Four-Armed Emperor!
Finally getting around to sharing a small side project I’ve been tinkering with.
Out of all the Genestealer Cult models, this guy has always stood out to me: axe raised high, convinced he’s about to be the hero… when in reality he’s just future biomass.
Absolute joy to paint though. The model is packed with detail, which made it a great playground to experiment with textures and contrast. At least I tried!
That said… genuine question: do people actually build full armies of these? Because I can’t even begin to imagine the amount of work that must take!

"Für Kaiser!" Austrian Grenadiers completed!
The elite infantry of the Austrian Empire army as they were in 1809. This represents the Salamon Batalion, comprised of the Grenadiers from the 16th, 26th and 27th infantry regiments, thzt fought at the Battle of Raab.
Took me a good 3 weeks to complete, and I am loving Napoleonics at the moment. Still a long way from finishing this project, but making good progress!
All models are 28mm metal models from @pianowargames .

New 2026 army!
Something I have been working on the side since early January: Austrian Empire in 1809 (the greatest foe of Napoleon!). The aim is to make a few regiments of Germans and Hungarians to recreate the army that fought against the French and Italians in 1809.
As expected, painting this much little guys takes a while but I am having lots of fun for now! And I can count of my friend @schoutenpc to monitor my process and encourage me!
So far I have painted this lot (that's already more than 50 models!): 2 German line infantry, a detachment of Jaegers and an officer.
All the models are metal, and produced by @pianowargames .

🎺 Trompette des Dragons de l'Impératrice/ Empress Dragoons Trumpeter
My favourite cavalry of the Napoleonic Wars, full of glory.
The trumpeter of the Empress Dragoons rode a white horse and wore the stunning reverse uniform in white and bright blue. On the battlefield, he must have looked like a shining beacon through the smoke.
This one was not an easy project. Full metal kit, dapple-grey horse, clean white uniform, delicate gold embroidery… every step was a challenge.
But that’s exactly why I love it!
I’m truly proud of how he turned out: bold, bright, and unapologetically Imperial.

Prince Eugène de Beauharnais
I’ve completed “the son of Napoleon”, the faithful and loyal Eugène de Beauharnais. I included a short biography in the pictures: he was one of Napoleon’s finest generals and, as his adopted son, was given the title of Viceroy of Italy, where he fought numerous battles against the Habsburgs.
I recently read extensively about him, particularly about his unwavering sense of duty toward his adopted father and the deep trust between them. While Napoleon himself left no descendants, Eugène’s family would go on to rule several European countries, a legacy that endures to this day.
The model is from the excellent @ateliermaket_ , cast in metal and absolutely gorgeous. Eugène is depicted in his Chasseurs à Cheval de la Garde uniform, with incredible detail and rich gold embroidery. As I understood, the sculpt itself is quite old, but let’s be honest: it has aged like a fine Bordeaux wine.
I’m very proud of this piece. I love the model, I love the man, and it feels like the definition of a perfect project, done just right.
