was thinking about friends and community, and i think that’s why this is one of my favorite city dance PWs. i think Poe and i were casually chatting about perks/limitations of the T-stage at Brady while looping the song in the background when I said
“oh it would be cool if we could invite the audience to dance with us and turn it into a party like in the movie”
…
“wait what if no one wants to join though”
“could we plant dancer friends in the audience”
“but how do we tell them it’s time for them to go back”
…
and a few weeks later we pulled this off.
first of all thank you @silapoe for even entertaining the idea when you didn’t have to 😂
thank you to the team for daring to briefly risk the idea of “what if we try to pull people but they won’t join” 😬
thank you to all the dancer friends and even random audience who hopped on stage and danced with us.
y’all basically took part in a mini stress combo before the stress era even started 😏
🌵5 years of chella🎡
2017 sam that went (worked) both weekends definitely wasn’t not expecting to return, let alone 4 more times 😂 in her defense it was a work-filled weekend and she only saw a few acts and skipped all the headliners 🙈
recently saw a post saying “it’s not the music that brings you back to the desert, it’s the people you go with.” 🙂↕️
forever grateful to have made so many fond memories with @stoneg and @istian19 and everyone else we roped in on the way 🫶
note to self: flying over the pacific juuuuust for chella is a bit of a push. let’s…try to not do that again. i will say this is the least tired and congested i’ve felt post festival tho lol
best thing about social media now is i can learn my friends’ pieces when i miss them 🥹
litto mark of @thexinyichen ’s piece! this girl‘s movement and musicality just keeps getting better 😭😭😭
wanted to do a more full out and cleaner lines run but i blame the fit and also having to dodge poles lol will retry if i find a studio with more space!
wish i recorded the part where i first attempted the splits and was wheezing in laughter because the floor was SO FAR FROM MY HANDS 💀
WOOT WOOT first long form pole choreo!
There’s still so much to clean, and honestly I liked how I handled things for an earlier run more but this process is worth posting.
Thank you @yourmainepoles for being so supportive and creating this pretty piece
Thank you @jolina_lam and @ashh__pd for helping me troubleshoot that illusion-like move
The mix of pole tricks and choreo for the past 2 months have been fun, I’ll be back for more!

mentally still here.
first dance class in KR ended up being @vivikaluza ‘s! 😂
and this somehow turned into a HK group.
until we cross paths again next time!
thank you @vivikaluza for the moves and the push to play
thank you @airwreckaheyyy and @cocochlonut for sharing your energy
thank you @maju.seoul for the space
thank you @jeffreyy.w for extrovertedly connecting everyone 😂
(this editing took 5ever LOL)
i got really excited when @jacquie.pols said she’s making a piece to this song, and then was surprised by her vibe choice 😂
channeling Jacquie as much as I can on the left (almost went to find chewing gum but alas there’s no gum sold in singapore), or the way i interpreted to be portraying “the girl Miguel is singing this to”. on the right is what i’m more used to seeing in classes i’ve taken for this piece, more Miguel’s POV(?). it surprisingly ended up looking more similar than i expected it to! it’d be interesting to revisit and see how much further i can push the 2 different vibes.
it was fun trying to make my own spin on this choreo! tried my best to apply different textures and musicality (thanks for the years of training Poe). it’s still not as clean as i wanted it to be, but good enough for now 🤪 honestly i’ve been thinking of how to combine hiphop/choreo into pole instead of the typical contemporary/heels vibe and this is a great first step 🤓 it’s also very interesting to see how reliant i am on the pole once it exists next to me 😂 i had to consciously make an effort to move my hands away even though i’ve danced mostly without poles in the past decades?!
First 20 mins of trying to get @jacquie.pols ‘s choreo down shrunk into 3 mins 🤣 It’s been a while since I learned a choreo off of video and phew that muscle needed some reviving. I remember why I hated learning choreos with turns in them now, it’s always extra brain work to figure out which side people are spinning 😭
YO!
i miss you. a lot.
there’s so much going around all over right now.
knowing that you‘ll be in my corner when i need you brings me peace.
i hope you know i’m here when you need me too.
2 months.
Still confused on which side of the street to walk on.
Still get frustrated walking behind people who walk slowly 😅
Working on getting my code switching skills back.
✅ first low flow (mini-)term complete✅
thank you @cj.galaw for this sequence! these past 4 weeks were so so fun and just the right amount of push. still got so much to work on and refine! this is definitely a combo i’d want to revisit if i’m feeling like doing lowflow at open pole. haven’t really found the perfect balance of momentum + flow + ooey gooey-ness + extensions yet but we’ll get there someday 😤💪
this last round’s focus was on flow 🌊 movement quality isn’t where i want it to be because my muscles were getting tired by then 🥲
2025.02.27
may this day be remembered 😂
FIRST SHOULDER MOUNTTTTTTTT
was feeling heavy and was expecting a struggle bus class but the pole gods must’ve shone down on me
TY @sploink3 for the past few months of training! 🫶
also @poledelle_ and @jacquie.pols get an honorary tag for the superman at the end 💀 iykyk, definitely a core memory at revel
