I asked @giannagabriela.a what her experience was acting for the first time. With anything, the first few attempts tend to not be the strongest, but being that the three of us were coworkers and we had a rapport, it made it easier to settle into the character much more comfortably.

@bigspiritenergy spoke on navigating the character and not having her fully figured out on the day of shooting. Early on, we had discussions about how each character represented each of the three Power Puff Girls, and ultimately her commitment to embodying Bubbles didn’t serve her as well as we had intended due to dealing with the aftermath of ending a long term relationship. She ultimately abandoned the reference material and surrendered to her raw emotions, allowing that to be her driving force throughout.

Building a character doesn’t necessarily mean you have to have an entire lifetime figured out, but you have to have things that you can latch onto to inform the performance. We’re creatures of thought, so even though you know the lines, it still has to be delivered in a way where it’s as if you’re thinking these thoughts for the first time.

@giannagabriela.a plays a secret lover. I asked her if she was ever anyone’s secret… turns out that’s not the case 😂

Sat down with @bigspiritenergy and spoke about how she “births” her characters and operating from a place of discomfort.
For her role as Phoenix, she took the liberty of placing fake tattoos around her body to further cement herself in the essence of the character. She even decided on identifying the character as a lesbian, something that was not explicitly in the script. These small, seemingly inconsequential creative choices end up becoming the driving force behind what people see in the finished product.

Yasmina talks about the practice of Ayurveda (the traditional Hindu system of medicine, which is based on the idea of balance in bodily systems and uses diet, herbal treatment, and yogic breathing.) and how natural occurrences within the body such as breathing, sneezing and even crying should not be hindered, but rather allowed to run their course.
