Alright friends, time for a soft relaunch. Hello, world. My name is Gareth. I'm a writer, actor, and director. From Colorado, but I've called LA home for the last few years. My scripts have won awards, from placing in Coverfly's Top 1% to a Black List 8 to Final Draft's Top 10. But I am also an actor, who likes to make movies with friends. My new reel is here: /watch?v=Y6_Cq8KeKV4 You can keep up with most of my creative endeavors at linktr.ee/gvroot And this clip is from something special that @solt_eli cooked up last year, starring @danichace , @ryanhartstunts , and myself.

Had one of the silliest and most fun auditions of my acting career this week, culminating in a sequence where I had to do some swordplay outside. Here are some outtakes from that day. Unfortunately I had an audience. 🤣 #actor #actorlife #audition #swordplay

The world's on fire, but I am reminded that even as you do what you can to affect change, you must never cease to appreciate what you have right in front of you. 1) New Year's Eve in Chinatown with some awesome friends. I remember the night well. Not sure how many of us there can say the same. 🤣 2) My parents. My wonderful, amazing parents, inside the ice castles of Silverthorne, Colorado. Look at them being cute together. 3) Dillon reservoir was half frozen over. A stark difference from my sunny SoCal 75. Kinda missed it though. 4) Just a couple of jokers. Thought they were pretty humerus. 5) Some BTS from my first commercial (and first paid acting gig) since moving to LA! And hopefully, the first of many... Hoping the rest of the year is marked by uncharacteristic reason, empathy, and opportunity. And hoping I take more pictures.

I had a realization partway through last year. I missed acting. I also realized that since moving to LA, I had actually started to build up a body of work. Small things here and there. Films made with friends. But it added up. I cut a new reel. Updated my materials. Sent things out. And waited. And fortunately I didn't have to wait long. In December I signed with @mpmmodels and booked my first commercial in January. I also took new headshots with the one and only @solt_eli , who I maintain is a magician with a camera. Seriously. Book him. They say Hollywood will put you where you need to be. I'm looking forward to testing that theory. All this to say that I'm excited for 2026, and I'm about to get A LOT more annoying on here. Sorry not sorry. 😉

At last! We are back! Whale of a Tale is coming back February 15, 2026 Submissions from 1/11 - 2/11 (or while slots last) Submit through the link in bio. See you there! An open mic night for short films? In my local coffee shop? It’s more likely than you think. Welcome to “Whale of a Tale,” a quarterly event where we showcase filmed material made by LA locals. Our Short Film Open Mic is a great place to share your work in a non-competitive environment, free of charge, before an audience of friends and fellow indie filmmakers. Accepting short films, comedy sketches, music videos, web pilots, that one incredibly deep thing you filmed with your friend in college. If it’s short, we wanna see it! Submissions must be 25 minutes or less. Only one longer project will be accepted per event. Only one submission per person. No bigotry, hate speech, and/or overtly pornographic material. We understand that these can be contextual, and all films will be vetted for content before screening. Please stay for all films. Don’t just leave after your own. If you have to arrive late/leave early, please talk to us, but if you do not attend the physical event, your film will not be shown. Lastly, this event is free for everyone, so please bring your friends! We are able to make admissions free because Moby’s Coffee & Tea Co. has generously allowed us to utilize their space. As such, we ask that no outside food or drinks be brought into the space. Help keep us admission free!

When I was a kid, I was in a choir every year for 14 years straight. Realized this year that I missed it, and I've been wanting to try to experiment making something like this for a while. Turns out, it's actually really hard to synchronize with yourself, so enjoy this rookie attempt. Song. Auld Lang Syne Arr. Jared Ice #happynewyear #auldlangsyne

☀️ Summer 2025 ☀️ The end of this summer marked 3 years of living in LA. I can't believe how fast it has flown by. I also can't believe how few pictures I took. Here are some of the ones I did take. 1. My birthday at the Scum & Villainy Cantina 2. 2 Shore 2 Door... We walked 35 miles that day. The Burbank Airport to Santa Monica Pier, and most of the way back. Still can't believe it. 3. Just boys being boys. 4. The easiest-to-understand parking sign in all of LA. 5. View from the Hollywood Hills at 7am. Mile 8ish of our trek? 6. The Pacific Ocean. Mile 20ish of our trek. 7. Vans' Warped Tour 2025. Was absolutely crazy. 8. Good music. Good food. Good people. A summer well spent. Incredibly grateful for the last three years and all the amazing friends I have made since coming here. Each year has been a bit better than the last, so here's to year four.

Me and the boys walking around Silver Lake reading Mary Shelley's Frankenstein at 6 in the morning. From the mind of @solt_eli , the walking and talking talents of yours truly, and the tree-climbing abilities of @ryanhartstunts (he was off camera, you had to be there) comes the first installment in what may or may not ever happen again (but I actually really enjoyed it so I kinda hope it does). A cozy book reading and walk. Part audiobook, part meditative stroll. Link below (and probably in bio or something idk). https://youtu.be/nJoHx2iAcys?si=H6NcuIliPFDs-Q55
