@richard040560 and I will be doing an informal meet and greet / signing (not singing) at
@fountain_records on the evening of 28th May from 7pm ahead of the official launch of our book, ‘It’s Time The Tale Were Told: A People’s History of The Smiths’ which will be published by
@spenwoodbooks on 12th June.
As people may know Stretford has been my home for the last 20 years and am surrounded by ‘Smiths lore’. I live 10 minutes from the Iron Bridge, a few more from Morrissey’s former home on Kings Road and just down the road from the gone but not forgotten El Patio.
Not only is
@nigelyoung3196 , proprietor of said shop a good friend (despite being a City fan… like my co-author) but it was previously called Reel Around The Fountain, named after the song of the same name, which itself was inspired by the water feature in Stretford Arndale (until its removal at some point in the late 1980s)
Also, the first line of Reel Around The Fountain just happens to be, as Smiths fans will be aware, is ‘It’s Time The Tale Were Told’…
Nigel will be also selling records and the award winning bar
@longfordtap is next door should refreshments be needed…
