pooped. + home time happy with the results but sometimes when opening the kiln the feeling of dissappontment from seeing failed pots kind of overwhelm the successful ones ; setting them aside now and the cycle begins anew for the last gas firing in two weeks. some takeaways from this firing, not to use shino glazes next time, celadons look nice : maybe an additional day to fire / reduction cool/ spray more soda 2. grinding bricks & mateos slices his thumb on angle grinder- simultaneously i have a crazy nosebleed; take a break.. 3. some of my faves from this firing, made some fish like bottles that kind of started accidentally from a vase that had no bottom and i sliced in half, almost throwing it away but decided to just smush them together; 6. mop and reset the kiln pad for the next crew loading in a few days 7. putting kiln wash on the bricks so they dont stick together 8. everything (and then tossed things) tldr: just look at the pictures

firing day 6 am (@mateoskraft turns the burners up) - ongoing 2. preparing and soaking wood for later 3. preparing dry materials for burritos (packets), discussing when / where to put rails and wood / spray 4. wrapping burritos 5. waiting for top and bottom to even out, cone 6 bottom cone 2 bending on top 6. cone 8 falling and we start railing burritos in; followed by wood / right side port only 7. cone 9 fallen and kiln evened out, start spraying mostly on left side of the kiln to see the effects between burritos and spraying, also built spray ports into the door to directly spray onto sculpture and tumble stack now wood reduction cool.. until... later... current time 10:29pm

2/2 3-9 pm.. load the front stack jenga tumble stack a whole shelf of pieces together (exciting!) and then brick up our beautiful kiln which due to an incident (explosion) has and will continue to bow out each firing.. smashing bricks into place and contemplating reality as deliriousness sets in.. two hours of discussing spray ports and second guessing brick orientation and smashing bricks with mallet .. energy - delirious/10 i am pooped .

1/2 9:40 am - 3 ish pm loading the back stack of salty (our salt / soda kiln), starting with putting gluing wadding (which i thought it was called doofer until today i realized its not called doofer..) to the bottom of the pieces so they dont stick to the kiln shelves and then placing them onto the shelves, kind of like a puzzle where we try to imagine the flame and soda path and how one piece can influence the one beside / around it so cold today .. hands so dry .. energy good (at this point) tldr put da doof on da pot put da pot in da kiln ft fisheye
