Finishing out this run of #localanestheticrecords by @waxtraxdenver is an outlier of sorts. Rectifier was off my radar and under the floorboards, and it rarely shows up these days. An industrial nod to TG (rip GP-O), and sounds like something a couple of pure tabs might create in the wee hours at Packing House Studios with Bob & Geoff. I can only imagine. I suspect the @discogs date of 1981 for this release is off by a couple of years. If it truly is LA-005 it would put it somewhere in ‘83. Among my favorite releases on #localanestheticrecords put out by @waxtraxdenver , 1982. It didn’t have the intense energy my teenage brain required, but I truly appreciate now what I missed out on then. A heavy dose of 60s psych filtered through the lens of (then) contemporary post punk. Comparisons with #siouxsiesioux are not off the mark. Brilliant! Sadly, the only Local Anesthetic release I’m lacking is the @jeri.rossi solo effort from 1983. Bum-Kon was released on #localanestheticrecords by @waxtraxdenver , 1983. The fluorescent yellow sleeve was a nice companion to the fluorescent pink Frantix EP and both received heavy play in my teenage bedroom. First pressing with yellow labels, second with orange. Another early Colorado release on #localanestheticrecords by @waxtraxdenver , early 1983. Tight, fierce and fast hardcore reminiscent of early #necros. The Boulder band included James, Matt and Gary who would later go on to #the fluid in the mid-80s. The first Frantix EP released on #localanestheticrecords by @waxtraxdenver , 1982. New Questions was eventually re-recorded by #thefluid which included two Frantix- Ricky and Matt. I came across 10 old stock copies in a record store in Rome in the summer of 1987 - bought them all and then handed them out to friends upon my return. Original owners Jim and Danny sold it to current owners Duane Davis and Dave Stidman in the fall of 1978, and opened the second store @waxtraxchicago in Chicago that year. The Denver Wax Trax Records continued to release records under the Local Anesthetic imprint for another 5 years. According to Gluon, Mike Chappelle, this record saw five pressings with a number of label and picture sleeve variants. Dirty Dogs from Laramie, Wyoming barely released their “Sorority Girl” 45 in 1978 before packing up and moving to Los Angeles, where they arrived on Halloween night. After a couple gigs as the #dirtydogs they rechristened the band #theaccelerators and released an EP the following year with a newly recorded Sorority Girl. Guitarist @the_ericambel also played with #riklrik and #topjimmy before becoming a founding member of #joanjettandtheblackhearts. Eric later co-founded #thedellords and #roscoesgang. Fun fact: #patsmear is playing thru Eric’s guitar amp for #thegerms in #declineofwesterncivilization.
