Bryan Adams ‘Tough Town’ Cover art and Music video. Recently had the joy of collaborating with @buero_dirk_rudolph and @bryanadams to create the cover image for the new Bryan Adams album cover, and I directed/animated the video using the same CG environment. Absolutely ❤️ what Dirk has done with the album design. The album image was created in Maya, I built every brutalist tower by hand😬. My first ever music video (2002?) featured the brutalist architecture of the Barbican Centre and I haven’t stopped obsessing over it since- so it was a joy to build the video in Unreal using the same assets. I did all the post, edit and grade.

Some examples of work I did for the Pink Floyd ‘Wish You Were Here 50’ release.
Hopefully I played some part in getting it to #1 across Europe, although that’s really down to the work of Sony Creative Director Josh Cheuse 🔥🔥. I helped with Digital album covers, Motion work and various other animations.
Shown here was my attempt to offer a more cerebral approach to the traditional ‘lyric video’ for the track ‘Welcome to the Machine’. Taking the iconic black plastic wrapping of Storm Thorgersen’s original album design (huge fan of the iconic burning handshake image- piercingly relevant today!) and exploring the (Christo-esque) idea of wrapping/concealment/absence along with the theatrical motif of unveiling. Then for the digital album covers (designed by Josh) we expanded on this and implemented the black plastic shrink wrap in all sorts of ways.
I spent way too much time R&Ding this but hopefully it was worth it! No AI used, just good old fashioned Maya😉, and a little bit of UE. Marvelous designer obvs!
Amazing to see the entire PF back catalogue covered in this stuff on Spotify! And incredible to be involved in a campaign with contributions from Simon Armitage, Dilly Gent, Noel Fielding and many more❤️.
A few sequences from the ‘War Machine’ Music Video made in Unreal Engine 5.
The song was originally performed by KISS but was actually co-written by Bryan Adams.
Bryan wanted to say something about the horrendous, increasingly casual approach to push-button warfare, so we decided to go EPIC.
I directed the video and did all the post: VFX, edit and grade. Took a while! Unreal engine came in very handy for this. All the soldiers are CG so I got busy in the studio doing by best Spec Ops style mo-cap moves😜. One-man-VFX-army strikes again 💣
Spot the Dr Strangelove influences 👀 plus a generous sprinkling of Tony Scott. I love Bryan’s performance as the prez (prostheticallly aged by make up by Darren Evans💪💪) Also who is that terrible actor playing the CIA boss?

Some sequences from the ‘Never Ever Let You Go’ music video I directed for Bryan Adams, featuring Liz Hurley. Nice to do a proper pop video for a change! Was amazing to work with Liz Hurley on this, I hope my nerdy green screen direction wasn’t too confusing 😬.

Recent work: Some scenes from a Music Video I directed for Bryan Adam’s ‘What if there were no sides at all’. The track is coming out soon on the album Tough Town (See YouTube for full video with audio).
This was the film that started a collaboration that has evolved over many Music Videos since. We’ve developed a freestyle approach to making videos, using CG expressively and intuitively, that wasn’t possible before Unreal Engine. It was really inspiring to work together on this and to be given such creative freedom on this project.
Also, massive respect to Bryan for speaking up on these conflicts. Whilst it’s overall quite a universal message, some of the details in the film are quite specific. (For example the film features real 3d drone scans from Ukrainian buildings.)
As well as directing I did all the post, edit/vfx/grade, primarily in Unreal, with some Maya and Substance Painter too. (No AI used)
