It’s hard to find the right words to write about Legends closing. So many people have already said it better, but it still feels important to say what this place has meant to me.
My first time in Legends was 2004/2005, playing a gig in Opium as a teenager. Since then I’ve come back countless times, for shows, for friends bands, and for the community that grew around this place. Legends wasn’t just a venue. It was somewhere many of us grew up, met lifelong friends, and found a scene that felt like home.
It’s incredibly sad to see it go, especially knowing how rare and important spaces like this are for alternative music in Edinburgh. It’s impossible not to think about the staff who have worked so hard to make every night happen. For them especially, this moment comes with a lot of uncertainty, and they deserve huge appreciation for everything they’ve done for the scene.
For Hype Cycle, Legends will always mean a lot. We played our first show here in 2024, and it’s something we’ll never forget.

That's 2025 done! It's been some year for us, our first full year as a band. We've had the opportunity to play some amazing shows this year from Supporting Wristmeetrazor and Split Chain early in the year to playing the first Fife Metalfest with a ton of amazing bands in the summer! Big thanks to everyone that has come out to see us play, bought a shirt or picked up some stickers! Massive thank you and appreciation to anyone that has put us on a show this year, took our photo and all the bands we have managed to play with throughout the year. There's an amazing amount of talent on the go at the minute! We are looking forward to whatever next year brings and getting out and about more. We have a new tune being mixed currently and hoping to drop it early in the new year and some shows to be announced!
Much Love
Hype Cycle 2025
Yo, we're back! We've had a few months off to regroup and had a bit of a lineup change, but we're looking forward to this one get down early to catch @stipulatedtorment second ever show!
