Happy 7th birthday to my number 1 K9 son!!! Best guy at the beach, usually… best little spoon, best guy always by my side. Also, the oldest guy in the house now that he’s eclipsed me in dog years. Cheers to many more years!
Doing this thing with some dear ole friends this Saturday. Let’s show you some ‘nados. ——Tornado Allies is a group show featuring the multi medium, tornado inspired, works of artists Alan O’Keeffe and Adam Hurlburt. Growing up on opposite sides of the globe, both Alan (Cork,IE) and Adam (WI,US) found a connection to the weather phenomenon at a young age and twisters manifested themselves in rudimentary sketches and doodles. Odd iconography coming from two areas not known for tornado activity, yet images of the tornado remained constant in each’s works on paper for decades to come. Life’s own meandering path drew both artists through other creative pursuits until New York City in the mid-2010’s, presented the conditions for Adam and Alan to connect, reveal their mysterious affinity for the tornado and showcase their eerily similar sketches on bar top napkins. Others present, marveled at the formation seemingly from thin air and noted that like the tornados themselves, if it were any more predictable, it would cease to be referred to as an act of god.
Waterbury Wine & Spirits was at that meeting and is proud to make good on the promise to host a show, for both artists to twist down and touch the earth in our shop for a brief moment on October 5th, 2024.
Tornado Allies explores the paradox that in the path of complete and total devastation, there’s an opportunity to build in the period of calm that follows. Something as ubiquitous as the air we breathe can form awesome powers of destruction; both artists understand that your only insurance policy is your ability to create anew.
Opening Reception on October 5th from 5-9pm; show to run until October 20th, 2024.
All works are for sale with 100% of proceeds going directly to the artists
new one from us (@solidgoldcorp ). Delighted with the feelings for this track. You gotta give love to those that give it to you, I think snoop dog said that. Zack and @matthewlocher have been giving me unwavering love for 20 years now, so I gotta at least give my love back in public. So yeah, love you guys to the moon. Those who know me know these last couple years have been an obliterating ordeal. the feeling I get from this song is how I feel now. Still heavy, but more excited and optimistic about the future than I’ve felt in forever. Thank you to @cecilotter for all he’s done on this one amongst a pile more of ‘em you haven’t heard yet. Thank you to @drdiamonddavepower@jacobrmullis for playing on it, @tveitbakk & @pachydermstudios for providing the best recording vibes, @fantasticplanet_ for fitting all the pieces together, & @huntleymiller for the finishing touches. I hope y’all enjoy this! You better😜
Finally made it back to reunite with my number one guy. Thank you for all the well wishes this past week, it truly does help in the process. Love you all.
Today would be Jess and my 8th wedding anniversary. Though it still is that, today is also the 55th day since she tragically left this earthly plane. I can’t say that it will or has become easier, I can say that I am adjusting to the new paradigm. For the last 12 days I’ve been traveling Italy with Jess’ family. The trip had been in the works for the last 9 months as a way to celebrate her parents’ 50th wedding anniversary. It is certainly still a celebration of their love but also an exercise in adaptation as our roles within the family unit have been altered in such a sad and disorienting way. I’m so grateful to be a part of their family and so humbled by their love and generosity toward me even as they navigate their own unthinkable grief. So… now this day will be not just the anniversary of Jess and I, but the anniversary of her family accepting me as one of their own. Happy anniversary to Jess wherever/whatever she is now and happy anniversary to the Wiger family. I love you
