Lately Iâve been noticing a lot of discourse online within the trans community that feels deeply disconnected from intersectionality and from the people who have historically carried this movement on their backs.
As white trans women, we need to be honest about the fact that whiteness does affect how we are perceived, protected, listened to, and platformed, even within queer spaces. That doesnât erase our struggles as trans women, but it does mean many of us move through the world with privileges that trans women of color are not afforded.
So much of the visibility, language, community, and progress we benefit from today was built through the labor, resistance, creativity, and survival of Black and brown trans women who were rarely given the same safety, grace, or recognition in return.
And I think a lot of us could be doing a much better job at listening.
Not listening defensively.
Not only listening when itâs convenient.
Not treating BIPOC creators and activists as people we repost once a year while continuing to dominate conversations the rest of the time.
Actually listening. Learning. Making space. Understanding intersectionality not as a buzzword, but as something that fundamentally shapes how people experience transness, womanhood, safety, poverty, visibility, and violence.
Because there is no meaningful conversation about trans liberation that can exist without intersectionality at its center.
Trans women of color have always been at the forefront of this movement. The least we can do is acknowledge that, uplift their voices, and stop acting like our experiences are the universal standard for everyone in this community.

Iâm sharing something very personal today.
Iâve started a GoFundMe to help me afford Facial Feminization Surgery. My face and especially my hairline are a big source of dysphoria for me, and it affects how safe, confident and present I feel in my everyday life.
At the same time, Iâm just leaving my full-time job and stepping into freelance life, while also paying for my transition through private clinics, which has made this period very intense financially.
If youâre able to support or simply share the link, it would honestly mean the world to me.â¨Thank you for helping me through this part of my journey. đ¤

Being trans isnât just an identity, it changes how you move through the world completelyđłď¸ââ§ď¸
When you come out this is what comes with it.
You give up the safety of anonymity.
You lose the ease of blending in.
Medical privacy and dignity stops being guaranteed.
Even mistakes stop being just yours, they start getting tied to an entire group of people.
Some careers and opportunities quietly disappear.
And even something as basic as feeling safe around strangers becomes complicated.
And this is only a small part of it.
There are so many things that affect trans women that rarely get talked about, especially by people who feel comfortable debating our existence from the outside.
Iâll talk more about it going forward. Not for pity, but because the reality deserves to be understood as it actually is.
People swear HRT is âdangerousâ
You know what was dangerous?
Living in a body that didnât feel like mine
HRT:
Softened my features
Softened my mind
Made me present in my own life
Made me want a future
Hrt truly has been life changing and I wish more people could understand that #trans #transgender #mtf #transformation #doll
The hate never comes from people Iâd trade places withâŚ
They are always anonymous, private, or just not giving what they think they areâŚ
The love though, always stunning people and loving human beings đ #trans #transwoman #lgbtq #mtf #doll

A lot of men donât actually want a trans woman
they want the idea of one đłď¸ââ§ď¸
Something exciting, different, validating for them
The moment she has standards, boundaries, presenceâŚ
it stops being fun for them
Iâm not here to be someoneâs secret, experiment, or ego boost
and I never will be đ

There was a version of me
who thought being quiet would make life easier
That if I didnât say anything,
didnât take up too much space
didnât make anyone uncomfortable
Iâd be easier to accept
That was not the case
Hiding doesnât feel like safety
it feels like slowly losing yourself for other peoples comfort
Iâm not doing that anymore
Iâm not going to shrink myself
so other people donât have to question what they believe
Iâm not going to carry shame
just to make my existence easier to digest
I want to be seen for exactly who I am
Not just for me
but for the people who donât feel like they can yet
Being visible isnât just personal
It shifts things
even when people donât want it to
That matters more to me
Than being comfortable ever did

Trans people have become one of the easiest scapegoats in modern politics.
Not because we hold power, but because we challenge it.
Look at the pattern:
First, they fixate on us.â¨Bathrooms. Sports. Healthcare.â¨Our existence turned into a âproblem.â
Then, while everyone is distracted,â¨rights start disappearing more broadly.
Bodily autonomy gets restricted.â¨Healthcare access gets rolled back.â¨Education gets censored.
Weâre not the end goal.â¨Weâre the entry point.
If you can convince people that one group is a threat,â¨it becomes a lot easier to control everyone else too.
The same systems that target trans peopleâ¨have always targeted women, queer people,â¨and anyone who doesnât fit the norm.
We just make it harder to ignore.
Save this if it put words to something youâve felt.â¨Share it if youâre tired of people pretending this is just about us.
