Join IMA students Friday, May 22 at 6 PM for an IMA Works In Progress gathering. WORKS IN PROGRESS is a Hunter IMA MFA student-organized gathering. Share work or ideas at any stage, and get feedback from peers outside of classes. We welcome everything from early ideas/concepts to refined projects. It includes projects undertaken both within and outside of classes.  Each presenter has roughly 15-20 minutes to share and receive feedback.  Whether you want to present a work-in-progress or you just want to see what others are working on, all IMA students (and alumni) are welcome as well as friends of the program and prospective students. Everyone appreciates the feedback, so please attend even if you’re not showing work.  Please fill out the RSVP form - link in bio Details: Friday, May 22 6-8:30 PM Black Box theater, HN543 Hope to see you there!  Lisa Draho and Andrea Karo #WIP #WORKSINPROGRESS #multimedia #film #audio animation installation interactivemedia performance collaboration

So happy that the collaborative audio AR app Radical Atmospheres was selected to be in the 50th issue of @thenewrivervtm - The New River Journal of electronic lit and digital media. This project is an audio walking tour of radical Puerto Rican acitivism in East Harlem, it was created in my Spaces Speak grad class in @hunterimamfa . The audio is a combination of sound poetry made with archival materials from @centropr archives and oral histories conducted over a year. The piece features the words of activists from the Young Lords, MPI/PSP, El Comite, the East Harlem Renegades, and people from the community that were impacted by their work. On Tuesday, May 5th at 11 am there will be a kick off party where authors will discuss their projects. I’ll be joined by the amazing @prometheus.brer to discuss our process, link in bio. There are currently over 120 audio pieces that cover roughly 10 blocks and three avenues. It’s best if you hear it in-person in East Harlem but it can be navigated via laptop or desktop. See more info in bio link. Thank you to @leosano for the graphics and design work, all of the interviewees and students who participated in the project: Students: Nina Bowers, Emma Rose Brown, Samantha Carter, Mary Gruesser, Anisa Hodzic, Kassandra Luyando, Phillip Desmond, Andrey Patino, Susanna Randolph, and Leo Sano. Interviewees: Gil Cintron, Máximo Rafael Colón, Olga Iris Sanabria Dávila, Frank Diaz, Ray Delgado, Rolando Gonzalez, Lillian Jiménez, Iris Morales, Denise Oliver, Raymond Perez, Carmen Vivian Rivera, Walter Bosque Rosa, Minerva Solla, and Andrés Torres. On March 31st, the Lang Theater hosted a showcase from the HAL Narrative Change Fellowship in collaboration with the Rikers Public Memory Project. IMA student Jesse Allain-Marcus worked with fellow Turquoise to shoot and edit a piece centered on incarcerated women and their own frameworks for healing. Seeing Turquoise on stage, radiant, dressed in her signature turquoise, was a highlight of the night. We are proud to have IMA students and faculty be part of this work. 🩵🎬 Photos by Prof Betty Yu #HALFellowship #RikersPublicMemoryProject #NarrativeChange #IMA Storytelling

Last night, 60 people packed Hunter College’s TV studio for a screening of A Home Worth Fighting For… and we could have kept the conversation going for hours. ✊ IMA alum Natasha Florentino’s documentary about NYCHA residents fighting the demolition of the Fulton and Elliott-Chelsea Houses in Chelsea brought together NYCHA residents, activists, urban planners, architects, students, and community members. Thank you to everyone who showed up and showed out. 🏢🏢🏢 #PublicHousing #NYCHA #HousingJustice #Chelsea #HunterCollege IMA DocumentaryFilm AHomeWorthFightingFor NYCHousing CommunityOrganizing
