The #lockdown has made us rethink of all the things we've been taking for granted. Eating fresh fruit with a view of the ocean is something so beautifully simple, and yet so far away from happening again.
What you see here is a #rambutan , a cousin of the #lychee , just more fleshy and sweet. The fruit has its origins in #Indonesia but I found it #travelling in #srilanka . Don't be alarmed by the shape, it's taste is as unique as it's appearance.

The most unassuming home stay happened to offer one of the best delights.
A simple Sri Lankan breakfast, with flavours surprisingly similar to South Indian cuisine.
What you see in the picture is a glass of fresh papaya juice, idiyappam, rice cakes filled with sweet coconut, a powder similar to gunpowder (Indian spice mix), and a much thicker Dal sambhar.

I've been looking forward to eating stone crabs for some time now, and Sri Lanka is famous for them.
They're notoriously hard to crack and getting the meat out is quite the effort... But in the end, it's totally worth it.
I found them in a small shop on Galle road, and they have been by far one of the meatiest crabs I've eaten on this trip.
Each time you crack a claw, the juice falls on the rice making it so much more delicious. Yummy!

When it comes to clams, the fresher they are, the better they taste.
I found these beauties walking down the beach. They were originally going to grill them, but on request they tossed them in a pan with some garlic, butter and white wine.
It took some major willpower to put them aside and click a picture first.

Ozo Rooftop bar in #colombo is pretty popular for the view of the shorline it offers. That being said their snacks were a pretty nice first meal.
Also, if you happen to travel to Sri Lanka, make sure you try their Lion beer. It's almost like a Budweiser, minus the bitter aftertaste.
