Research Opportunity for Cyclists 📢
We are looking for cyclists (male and female) aged 18 - 55 years to participate in our study aiming to investigate the day-to-day variability of cycling biomechanics and the physiological responses to cycling exercise!
For more information, or to express an interest in participating, contact Kelly Murray [[email protected]]
Testing, testing, HPU
We’re honoured to continue our work with Essex Uni’s @humanperformanceunit
This year, they will be helping with lab testing, sports massage at races and lots more
What a day of testing with @tofautieveryoneactivemajaco ! 🚴♂️💪
We loved having these top cyclists in our Exercise Physiology labs at @sresessex@uniessex as they gear up for their winter training.
The data we gather is key for both riders and coaches:
- tracking fitness
- spotting strengths
- guiding training
Well done all!

Dialing in the numbers 🔬💥 The squad hit the lab @humanperformanceunit to make sure every watt this winter counts. No guessing, no shortcuts — just data, drive, and Redline Velo.
Excited for the group to start receiving Sports Science support from the Human Performance Unit at Essex University.
Yesterday we completed treadmill physiological testing to assess blood lactate, aerobic fitness, running economy, and metabolic responses to exercise.
Huge thanks to the brilliant staff who guided our athletes through the process and took the time to understand their training and goals.
Looking forward to the rest of the group completing their tests and putting the results into their training plans.

We are excited to introduce our HPU Placement Staff for 2025/26.
Aqdas, Bobby, Megan, Joe and Megan, current @uniessex@sresessex students, will be embedded in the Human Performance Unit for the year.
They will working with our staff to deliver sports science services with athletes of all levels and disciplines, working with visiting school groups to inspire the next generation of sport scientists, and contributing towards research projects within the HPU.
Over the past few weeks, we've had the pleasure of working with the staff at @ipswichtown , providing targeted testing and training support for Wes Burns as part of his injury rehabilitation.
It’s always a privilege to collaborate with local professional teams and contribute to the performance and recovery of elite athletes.
This phase of work has focused specifically on testing and strength development using the Isokinetic Dynamometer.
Great to also welcome back ITFC physio Dan Morton — a University of Essex graduate who completed both his BSc in Sports Therapy and MSc in Physiotherapy here in @sresessex .
Fantastic to see our graduates thriving in their professional careers and returning in such impactful roles.
Research participation opportunity!!
We are looking for males aged 18-40 years to participate in our study aiming to investigate the use of blood flow restriction as a recovery aid post-exercise.
Check out our poster!

LAB TESTING! 🩸
Curious to see what kind of shape I’m in ahead of the Manchester Marathon—especially after 2 weeks of disrupted training thanks to a nerve issue.
Feels like that’s finally sorted now… so let’s go!!
Thank you @humanperformanceunit as always!!
