Humano is not sustainable. It should be, right? It seems like Humano ticks a lot of requirements for it to be called a "sustainable brand". However, calling ourselves sustainable would be nothing more than reduce something as complex as sustainability to an oversimplified use of buzz words. Organic cotton doesn't make a brand sustainable! To call ourselves sustainable we would need to do much more than we currently do. Afterall, we're a business, and right now we rely on harvesting raw materials (such as organic cotton) to sell new clothes in an industry already oversaturated. That is not sustainable... Not only that, but there's an incredible amount of water and energy used to turn the raw material into a final piece of clothing. That is not sustainable... We make our pieces with the idea of them lasting a long time, but we don't offer any solutions for the end cycle of our clothes. What happens to our pieces after they're worn out? What do we, as a brand, offer you the costumer, as a solution to fix the linear economy we're currently in? We're embarrassed to say, but we offer no solution yet. That's why we don't call ourselves sustainable. Humano is not sustainable, and to be honest, we don't plan on ever giving ourselves that label. What defines our brand shouldn't be labels, but rather what we do. What good is to be called sustainable if that means we have to hide information from you? Rather than trying to tick boxes in order to "look good" we want to be fully transparent with you and share our journey, decisions and flaws along the way. The journey is long, complex and hard. Probably a lot of mistakes will be made, but we're looking forward to learn with them and make you part of this journey. ------------------------------- #slowfashion #sustainableclothing #sustainability #transparency #honestclothing #organiccotton #organiccottonclothing #fashionrev #fashionrevolution #fashionrevolutionportugal

When was a time you felt truly loved? 2 years ago I decided to bring a notebook to one of the markets I participated. With that notebook there was a question - "What is something you're too afraid to say out loud?". The idea was to create a space where people passing by could share their story and read others, in a way that allows for vulnerability and respects their privacy. Since then so many people have already participated, and more and more notebooks keep getting filled. Now we have a different question for everywhere we go, and this is one of my favourite ones - "When was a time you felt truly loved?"

Finally the long-waited knitwear is live! I've been working on this product for more than 6 months and it's probably the product I'm the proudest about, so far. 100% organic cotton knitted crewneck sweater. 3 colors, 2 styles of embroidery: one is the classic, minimalist Humano embroidery, and the other is a bold "Humano - no human is one-sided" statement. For a relaxed fit I recommend to size up.
