Feels strange to admit now, but I used to always feel like a musical imposter... I played trumpet for a couple of years in primary school, but that's it. I started producing electronic music after high school, with no music theory and no technical knowledge and still loved doing it...but a nagging voice in me was asking 'how can you write good music with no musical skills?' It always seemed too late. That I should have learnt an instrument when I was young and my brain was juicy. Heaps of trial and error and thousands of hours of work later, I finally realised its never too late. At 30 I started getting lessons from my local music school. It was humbling and sort of embarrassing to be such a novice...but the little victories have been so fulfilling. My teacher Sheila was the perfect balance of tough but fair. She never sugar coated my progress, and I had to earn her approval. I'm not the greatest pianist in the world, and aim still (very) slowly working my way through Alfred's Piano Volume 1 (on my own now). Just being able to sit down and play a bunch of songs is such a joy and something I'm proud of, and its cool knowing that some music theory has oozed into my own music. Here's one my favourites:

I had to pull out the @sonarworks calibration mic to re-map the room after adding in some swish acoustic panels with timber slats 😮

Ok this was a weird project 👀
I converted an old store room under my house into a meditation/ vocal booth (also can be a scream/ panic room 😄)
The walls are acoustic panels and the ceiling is a floating concrete slab so its cool and quiet in there. I've kept one of the air vents and fitted it with comfy lights and its a cosy little place ✨️ ☺️
I might do something with the ceiling but I actually really like the raw concrete 👌
Really happy with how it turned out!
