Indy is an energetic 1-year-old brindle pittie mix with a love for adventure and treats. After being abandoned in an apartment, he’s looking for a fresh start with a new family or owner.
He also loves exercising, going on outdoor adventures, belly rubs, showing off his tricks, and keeping an eye on squirrels and neighborhood rats (his #1 enemy).

Hazel recently found herself back at HRA after her owner had to move to a building that doesn’t allow cats.
Situations like this can be incredibly difficult and emotional for pet families, and while we always hope pets and their people can stay together, we understand that life sometimes creates impossible choices.
While we’re heartbroken for Hazel and her first adopter, we have to admit that it’s wonderful to see this love bug again.

🐾Still Waiting, Still Hoping 🐾
Some of the sweetest animals can end up waiting the longest, and we think it’s time more people meet Rosie and Smudge.
🐶 Rosie has been in our care since last November, and despite everything she’s been through, her tail hasn’t stopped wagging. After being left alone in an apartment, she’s shown nothing but love, resilience, and endless affection.
Rosie is playful, crate trained, mostly quiet, and happiest when she’s curled up close to her humans with a toy nearby. Belly rubs, couch cuddles, and snuggle time are basically her specialties. 🐶
🐱Smudge has been with us since this past January and has been slowly but beautifully coming out of his shell in foster care. While still a little shy, he’s learned to seek out pets, headbutt for affection, nap in sunny spots, and even curl up beside his foster for cuddles and scritches. Every day he grows a little braver, and it’s been incredible watching him learn to trust. 🐱
Both Rosie and Smudge are proof that patience, love, and a safe environment can change everything. Maybe one of them is the missing piece your home has been waiting for. ✨

Volunteer at your local shelter!! It’s so fun and rewarding … and you make such a HUGE impact in these animals lives, as well as your own well being!
Volunteering w @humanerescue can mean many things:
🐾 Walking and playing w dogs
🐾 Helping out with enrichment activities
🐾 Shifts are 7am-7pm—come for a few hours or one
🐾 Doing laundry so the pups have comfy, fresh bedding
🐾 Mentor WALKS are available to spend a shift w a regular volunteer to get the swing of things
