This film explores the relationship between a vegan activist and his father, a slaughterhouse worker.
If we look throughout the history of human civilisation, at every point behind us - there are examples of things that the majority of people accepted that we now look back on with horror.
Child labour. The chemical castration of gay people. Racial segregation. Hitting children with sticks. Women being denied the right to vote. The institutionalisation and severe neglect of people with disabilities.
How arrogant would it be to assume that today, despite our track record, for the first time in the history of human civilisation (when we happen to be born) - we are not missing something important?
It is humbling to know that the people who found the idea of ending slavery to be laughable were born with pretty much the same brains as you and I.
What are we not taking seriously that future generations will be horrified by?

My upcoming feature documentary 'The Dying Trade' has just been awarded Best Documentary at @uviewff .
This film is about my relationship with my father, but it's also about the suffering of animals in factory farms and slaughterhouses - and that is a topic that society largely avoids thinking about - so I'm very grateful to @uviewff for recognising it like this.

The EATS act—now called the save our bacon act—would make it illegal for states to pass animal welfare laws that apply to products produced out of state. This would gut most state level animal protection. It would be the worst law for animal welfare ever passed, and would consign hundreds of millions of animals to a life in a cage.
Terrifyingly, it has been added to the recent farm bill. It will be voted on in mid-May, so this is very time sensitive.
This situation is extremely high stakes:
PLEASE tell your representatives to vote "no" on the farm bill - it might be the most impactful action you ever take.

Ask them to vote NO on the Farm Bill in its current form because it contains the Save Our Bacon Act, which would override 600+ state laws.
