FeLV (Feline Leukemia Virus) is a virus that affects a cat’s immune system. While it sounds intimidating, many FeLV-positive cats can still enjoy happy, comfortable lives filled with love and companionship.
FeLV is spread only between cats, typically through prolonged close contact like grooming or sharing food and water. It cannot be passed to people or other species.
FeLV-positive cats do best living indoors, either as the only cat or with other FeLV-positive cats. With supportive care, good nutrition, and regular veterinary checkups, they can thrive and form deep, meaningful bonds with their families. They’re just as sweet, playful, and deserving of a loving home as any other cat. However, due to FeLV, those who are diagnosed tend to have a shorter life expectancy than those who are not. That only means that he is making the most of the live he has been given and is not letting anything stop him!
