Onze huidige artist-in-residence Hugo Palmar nodigt je uit plaatst te nemen aan zijn Transidentiteitstafel.
De Venezolaanse kunstenaar onderzoekt in zijn project hoe identiteit steeds in beweging is en hoe dit ontstaat in contact met anderen - met eten als verbindend medium. Het gaat niet alleen over gender of seksualiteit, maar ook over migratie, herinneringen en verbeelding.
Hij duikt in thema’s als queerness, oliecultuur en migratie, en gebruikt humor en contrast om vragen te stellen over wie je bent, waar je thuishoort en hoe “anders zijn” eigenlijk voelt. Denk: persoonlijke verhalen + grotere systemen + een beetje chaos op een goede manier.
Iedereen is welkom om aan te sluiten en samen in gesprek te gaan over het project en de thema’s.

Wees welkom in de BijlmAIR-studio en ontmoet kunstenaar Hugo Palmar. Hij presenteert zijn project Transidentiteitstafel, waarin hij laat zien hoe identiteit ontstaat in relatie tot anderen, met eten als belangrijk medium.
Het project kijkt naar transidentiteit als een proces van verandering en onderhandeling, voorbij alleen gender en seksualiteit, en legt verbanden met migratie, herinneringen en verbeelding. Palmar onderzoekt thema’s als migratie, queerness en oliecultuur. In zijn werk kijkt hij naar macht en persoonlijke ervaringen, en gebruikt hij humor en tegenstellingen om ideeën over verlangen, gastvrijheid en ‘anders zijn’ kritisch te bevragen.

Appearing Together [Genealogy of a Syndrome] links the pictorial work of Albert Eckhout and Frans Post during the Dutch colonial period in Brazil with other historiographical references, in relation to the concept of the Dutch Syndrome.
“Through a historical and artistic reading, the project examines how an extractivist logic—based on the idea of infinite wealth—has produced a system of long-term dependency. From the perspective of art, the proposal seeks to highlight these persistent structures and open spaces for collective reflection on the models of modernity and development inherited from colonialism.”
