Je voudrais prendre un moment pour expliquer où je suis, pourquoi, et ce que j’ai vu ces derniers jours de la part de touristes occidentaux, et qui m’a profondément choqué.
Je suis actuellement à Pisac, au Pérou, dans la Vallée sacrée des Incas. C’est un territoire magnifique mais fragile. Une grande partie de la population locale y vit encore humblement de l’agriculture, tandis que la vallée a été progressivement transformée par une industrie touristique largement façonnée par les désirs des consommateurs occidentaux. Aujourd’hui, beaucoup de familles dépendent économiquement de ce tourisme, sans toujours en maîtriser les excès.
Je suis ici parce que mon frère est malade. Sa maladie n’a pas de traitement curatif dans le monde occidental. En France, il a rencontré un curandero shipibo-conibo, issu d’une ethnie amazonienne qui travaille depuis des générations avec les plantes médicinales de la forêt. Mon frère connaît déjà bien ces médecines et a fait le choix conscient d’explorer cette voie thérapeutique. Je suis là pour l’accompagner.
Ces derniers jours, j’ai été témoin de situations qui m’ont profondément choquées.
À proximité de Pisac, des jeunes étrangers organisent des fêtes de musique électronique avec des sound systems puissants au cœur de zones rurales, entourées de maisons de paysans et de familles agricoles, imposant le bruit dans toute la vallée, de l’après-midi jusqu’à tard dans la nuit.
Puis, dans le petit hôtel où je logeais, des clients occidentaux ont fait énormément de bruit jusqu’à 3h du matin. Le propriétaire, péruvien, est intervenu pour demander le calme. Il a été moqué. Le bruit a continué.

Northern Thailand was a great part of my 6-month journey. Between the floods, I spent time with friends in Lampang, visiting Chiang Mai, Chiang Rai, and Pai. We explored some amazing spots and tried incredible food. It was a laid-back, almost family-like experience, right in the middle of the trip. Definitely a highlight.

One full day on the Mekong River in Laos, from Luang Prabang to Pak Beng, just after Typhoon Yagi had passed. It was such a slow, contemplative journey, with hours spent gazing at the changing landscapes between stops at remote villages where we delivered goods and passengers disembarked. We witnessed the immense power of this long and mighty river, swollen by the heavy rains. Yet, what stood out even more was the resilience of the people who depend on it for their daily survival — fishing, farming, and transportation. I really enjoyed my time in Luang Prabang—such a laid-back and charming city. The sunset at Madame Ling’s place on the other side of the Mekong was absolutely stunning. The Kuang Si Waterfall was amazing, Pak Ou Caves were impressive, the view from Mount Phousi was worth the climb and hearing some traditional Lao stories added a cool cultural touch to the experience.
