Join a Storytime Sail on the @schooner_apollonia in partnership with @thomascolesite and artist and illustrator @hudson.talbott . Talbott will read from his book “River of Dreams: The Story of the Hudson River,” which follows the River throughout history and includes the birth of the environmental movement and Thomas Cole’s Hudson River School. Recommended for families with children ages 7 to 14. Participants will receive their own copy of the book.

Announcing the paperback launch of the beloved children’s book “Picturing America: Thomas Cole and the Birth of American Art” by renowned author and illustrator @hudson.talbott . Join us at the @thomascolesite on Sunday, May 25, for the Book Launch Event, including Remarks and a Book-Signing by Talbott and a Pop-up Exhibition of original paintings created for the publication.
“Picturing America” was published in hardback in 2018 by Nancy Paulsen Books @nancyrosep , an imprint of Penguin Random House @penguinrandomhouse . The paperback version is the first children’s book published by the Thomas Cole National Historic Site. The launch coincides with the 200th Anniversary celebration of Cole’s first trip to Catskill, NY, in 1825, which changed the course of American art. #COLE200
Hudson Talbott, who has been a member of the Board of Trustees of the Thomas Cole National Historic Site for over 20 years, has written and illustrated over 25 books for young readers. His latest book, “A Walk in the Words,” won the American Library Association’s Schneider Family Book Award. He collaborated with Stephen Sondheim on the book version of the composer’s musical “Into the Woods,” illustrated the ALA Notable Book Leonardo’s Horse and the Newbury Honor Book “Show Way.” His book “We’re Back! A Dinosaur’s Story” was adapted into an animated film by Steven Spielberg.

INTO THE WOODS is a hit on Broadway again! And the book is back too! I did the book w/ Sondheim and Lapine in an earlier life and our dear editor revived it. I will be signing it at the Chappaqua Children's Book Fair this Saturday 10/15.
