Agosto Machado Honestly, words fail.... So I find myself reliant on the words of others... "Do not stand at my grave and weep, I am not there; I do not sleep. I am a thousand winds that blow, I am the softly falling snow. I am the gentle sunlight on ripened grain, I am the autumn rain." From Mary Elizabeth Frye "Then can I drown an eye, unused to flow, For precious friends hid in death’s dateless night, And weep afresh love’s long since cancell’d woe, And moan the expense of many a vanish’d sight." From William Shakespeare (Sonnet 30, excerpt) May you soar, dear friend, dancing free across the milky way and beyond... [ Illustration from original photo by jackie rudin ]

John Kelly A FRIEND GAVE ME A BOOK 392 Broadway January 9 – February 21, 2026 "P·P·O·W is pleased to present A FRIEND GAVE ME A BOOK, John Kelly’s first exhibition with the gallery, and the inaugural display of the artist’s epic 182-panel hand-illustrated graphic memoir. Shown here alongside a multi-channel video performance of the same name — that both incorporates and responds to the visual autobiography — this work simultaneously represents the culmination of more than a decade of artistic creation, as well as a continuation of Kelly’s radical adoption of various historical and pop cultural personae as vehicles for exploring ideas of gender, truth, death, and the pursuit for creative identity." @johnkelly.performance @ppowgallery

My phone made this weirdly nostalgic (to me) video... Kinda wild... is it AI or simply distracting me while "it" is filtering through my images... such tricky times...

"Those are red letter days in our lives when we meet people who thrill us like a fine poem, people whose handshake is brimful of unspoken sympathy, and whose sweet, rich natures impart to our eager, impatient spirits a wonderful restfullness which, in its essence, is divine… The solemn nothings that fill our everyday life blossom suddenly into bright possibilities." ~ Helen Keller

✨ Descent, Threshold, Return ✨ I work with heroes Everyday We occupy The in-between Life and Death And life Sacred intersections In-between Connecting Living And next And before Hermes or ferryman Guide and witness Hand extended I have been here before Though you are new to me We walk together Traveling in-between Hope and grief Braided as one Echoing forward To the edge of goodbye And back Again 🌟 Grief Bracelets, Breathing With🌟 In the heart of NYC’s ICUs and Emergency Rooms, I walk alongside heroes. Here, families and friends gather— bound not only by blood, but by love and choice. Here, Life and Death mingle and mix. Here, I witness: devotion, heartbreak, grace and struggle, holding on, and letting go. Each bracelet I make is a testament held in color and stone: lives; memories; stories; laughter; and loss... Remember, it is not my grief to carry. Remember, I am: Not Holding, But Breathing, Accompanying, Not Absorbing, but Allowing. 🌬️ Practice: Breathing With 🌬️ As I string bracelets I focus on my #breathing, allowing my imagination and memory to wander and wonder where it will… always returning to #breath: Inhale: “I #breathe in this moment just as it is.” Exhale: “I release what is not mine to carry.” Ground — Feel my feet. Whisper: “I am here. The earth is holding me.” Honor — “You were here. You mattered. You go in peace. I was here. I bore witness.” Release — “May I keep the love, and release the rest.” Return — “At this moment I return with presence. May I meet the next person with a clear and open heart.” And then I give the bracelets away to random people…❤️ Bracelet by bracelet, Breath by #breath, I return again and again— To #presence, to #witness, to #love. Stone Guide Amethyst — Calming, clarity, #healing Turquoise — #Protection, truth Jade — #Harmony, renewal Hematite — #Grounding, strength Rose Quartz — #Compassion, heart Moonstone — #Comfort, intuition Lapis Lazuli — #Wisdom, Connection to the #Eternal Malachite — #Connection to heart and transformation, #renewal...

We cast this circle Not in secrecy But in glorious view! In radiant truth And fierce solidarity! Tonight, we gather Not in silence But in song! Not in shadows But in sequins! Not in shame But in sovereignty! We cast this circle In the name of radical joy and justice And collective liberation! We call the Ancestors of Queer Past Marsha! Sylvia! Stormé! And all who marched before Each name a thread In the fabric of our becoming. We honor your footsteps As the ground beneath our feet The rhythm of your defiance Pulses in our bodies still. To the East! We call Air! Breath of protest Winds of revelation Air that carries our chants And sings of resistance across time and space To the South! We call Fire! Flame of resistance The spark of revolution! Every kiss dared in public A burning testament of love and will! To the West! We call Water! River of feeling Of joy and grief Water that holds our tears And flows between us, binding chosen kin. To the North! We call Earth! Stone of justice Ground of queer becoming! Earth that remembers our ancestors And holds our rage and healing with care. Above us Stars bear witness Ancient lights that shine on every truth. Below us The streets remember Each brick and crack etched with stories of struggle and courage. This is no parade This is a spell. A spell of liberation! Woven in lace and leather! In glitter and grit! In joy and in resistance! We reclaim space As sacred sanctuary! We demand justice For all under siege! We reject assimilation And embrace truth! And difference! And defiance! Every step is a declaration! Every chant is an incantation! Every body is sacred! Every kiss an act of revolution! Every wig is a war cry! Every sashay, a movement forward Together. This circle is cast. We are between the worlds And what happens between the worlds Changes all the worlds. So mote it be! (C) hucklefaery/ken 2025
