One day OR day one? Today marks day 1 to chase down another personal best at my next marathon. SUB 2.50 [4.02min/km] is audacious and crazy at the same time. 14 weeks of work! LFG 🔨

Flashback of last weekend: Km 89, 6.58am - smile or you're doing it wrong! What is your limit? This has and still is a very tempting question for me. I tried to answer this while running 100km last Friday evening and night. The reason why it's so hard to find out is because we think it's much closer than our limits probably really are. To make it clear, 100km is a brutal challenge. After getting down the first 40km, the physical pain started to be real and the discomfort intensified as the miles went by. This was the point, I realised that I'm actually not running with my legs, I'm moving forward with my mind. The mind is wildy powerful & I believe every human is equipped with a strength which, sadly, many will never tap into because they don't belive they are strong. I don't believe a person is stronger, greater or more enduring because they sign up for an ultra. [Read again!] Running 100km is just ONE way to show yourself, that you believe in yourself. Find something where you can prove yourself right - and always smile, no matter how hard it gets!

12 weeks ago, I decided to try something new, something which at that point seemed to be impossible. It was cold weather when I put my shoes on to start running again after my shin split injury. And this photo marked the starting point. Today, we are 10 days out of this challenge called 100km run ⛰️. Running, lifting and rowing became my passion. Here is something I became totally aware of during this 12 weeks and more than 70 runs: You don't find your passion, you creat it. And you creat it by getting good at something. And to get good in stuff, you start by doing something you suck at. First you get good, then you like it. And that's the moment people ask "how did you find your passion?" Answer: By starting when you sucked and not giving up.

Yesterday, I finished 2023 with one of the biggest challenge. I've learned this year that when you choose hard things and put in the work to see them through, you are guaranteed to experience growth. 2023 in numbers: - 21.4.23: 2.58.33 marathon in Zürich - 24.9.23: 2.55.44 marathon in Warsaw - 30.12.23: Run your race, 60km in 4.45h = Total running of 4'024km, 77km a week, 11km a day = 541 hours in 329 days of training 2023 in words: - Running is a jouney which teaches you that input equals output as long as stay patient. It takes perserverance to find your potential but the returns of that are so huge, it's worth to tie your shoes every day!

The year 2023 will soon be a thing of the past. Faster, stronger and further. 3 simple rules I followed every single day this year: We've gotten faster at running and have finished a staggering 2.55 marathon. We've gotten stronger and have reached new records with a 170kg deadlift today. Further: Something we haven't achieved yet, but on 30.12.2023, we will put a tick under that with a 60km run. #hybridtraining #running #lifting #faster #stronger #further

What a weekend! Looking back on last Sunday's Warsaw Marathon still causes goosebumps. Another 42.2km with a 3min personal best (2:55:45). That does not seems to be a lot, but to get 1% better at a time (it's indeed 1%) is all what counts! "Input does NOT always correlate with output". This was one main thought I had each km mark passed. Because putting in time or effort will not make you better, if you don't have an eye for all the details. Sprinting the last 200m with a glimpse on my watch time told me that we did again the right things to get this 1% better. #furtherfasterstronger #42km #running

It's time to taper again! After putting in a ton of work for the Warsaw marathon prep and having done 60 runs the last 10 weeks, we start the well loved taper phase today. The journey has been filled with ups and downs, great runs and miserable runs. But we showed up for every planned workout. I learned once again the importance of a proper recovery routine. And I can tell you, the effects of beeing aware that training doesn't end when you take off your running shoes is astonishing. Thanks to everyone who reminded me several times during this prep. I know, there is still plenty of room to improve. What finishing time do I expect for the 42.2km ? I don't know, but believe me, I never toe the starting line to play small. It's all about finding your own potential. Go one more!

3 weeks ago I crossed the finish line of my latest and first SUB 3 marathon. Many people experience it, the so called after marathon blues. It's real, I went trough all possible parts too: Lack of motivation, orientation and massive daily ups and downs. But we move forward and set the standard again a bit higher with a 100km night run on 9th of june. I've never done this, never closely tried to run that distance. That's why you should step up and grow within this challenge. Keep in mind: Chase your true potential and smile. If not, your are doing it wrong!

There we are! Sub 3 hours is broken with a strong race plan execution in 2 hours 58 minutes and 20 seconds. One thing is once again clear: You can not cheat the marathon! You will realise that at 30km mark and run through all emotions after that. Do hard things and always set a new standard!

The time has come, it's the day before the big day. Wheter is my first race, marathon or any other competition, I participate. The anticipation, the doubt and anxiety to be ready is flashing houndres of time. The beauty of this marathon game is that the second you step off that start line everything listed above is floating away by the crowds and running community. The support so strong that you can feel it in the air. Every kilometer will be taken at a time, runners are speaking and trying to help each other to reach their full potential on this day which was marked a long time ago in all their calender. From that moment, you can enjoy every step, that you're lucky enough to run this 42.2km, because at the end of the day, it is a gift. I will rembemer that when it gets hard, remember the 5am alarms, the hard morning track sessions, in the pissing down rain and the freezing temperatures, the discomfort of pain during long runs, the boredom, the sacrifice of a 16 week build - this is all the price you pay for the gift of accomplishing something only a very small percentage of people do. But finally, it is not about what other can or can not do - it's about proving yourself right. Nothing would be possible without the support of the closest people, who are fired up, when I'm fired up for setting a new standard and standing always in my corner. I've built every skill needed - brick by brick. Let's stack the last one by going all in.
